Reality shifted, and not just for the thug and the guy he was beating up. It changed for the rest of the world, including you.
You watch the two men in the alley and cringe. You hate to see things like this. Heterophobic violence. Lately, heterosexuality has become more tolerable, but occasionally, it still happened.
The thug pushes the smaller man up against the wall again, hard. "I see you around here again, breeder, and I'll do more than give you a beating." Then he grunts and walks away, leaving the smaller man to wipe away some blood before heading back home.
"What are you starin' at?" the thug asks you, after he catches you looking at him.
"Nothing," you say. You don't want any trouble. If this guy ever found out that you were heterosexual like the man he just beat up in the alley ... you might get a beating you'd never forget, if you didn't lapse into a coma, that is. The thug turns towards the street, then leaves. You hang your head in sadness. If only the world was more tolerable towards straights. You don't even realize that your memories have changed yet again due to a wish.
And speaking of the wish ... what did it do? It reversed the sexual orientation of straight and gay people. So now, the people who used to be gay are straight and the people who used to be straight are now gay. But all the hatred was the same. Homophobia had turned into heterophobia.
