Amanda set the book down in front of Joe. Her mind was swimming in fantasies and scenarios. Yet, she was still cautious. The red book she had held was the transformation of a 6" duplicate of herself. Now, she was inanimate, not breathing, and probably not even thinking. Joe had suggested doing that to her, but she was still hesitant to allow him to do it. The great thing about Joe was that he respected her wishes. Amanda had a suspicion that he could have just done it whether she wanted to or not.
"Joe, that was incredible. I admit, there was a time I thought about that stuff. It was back in my early years of college, but they faded away. Wow, now they can be done. How was it that we met?" she wondered.
"I don't know. I just walked into the library and saw the help desk. It must be God. This ring is incredible. Sometimes I'm concerned about what it can do. I've played with it, sometimes the temptation to use it on people is incredible," he confessed.
"Like on me?" she asked, curious what he was fighting.
"Amanda, I hardly know you, but yes, I wondered if you'd even notice if I just turned you into a book and then brought you back. I'd rather know that you approved of anything I do to you before I start doing it," he said, exposing his weaknesses and convictions.
Amanda stretched out her hand and put it on his hand. "It's okay. I have my doubts too, but what you said indicates you are concerned what happens when you use the ring. It lets me know I can trust you," she assured him.
"Thanks, Amanda. I'm glad we met. Now, what about this book?"
"Well, we're testing whether I can be booked or not," she said with a giggle. "I think we should reanimate her. I'm curious to learn what it felt like to melt into a book," she said as her face blushed.
"Well, you can be 'booked'. The question is what happens to you and whether it does anything else to you. I don't even know what I can do to myself with this ring," he admitted.
