Aiden makes it to his history class right before the bell rings and takes a seat before the teacher arrives. Being new to the school, the teacher asks him to introduce himself by saying his name, where he's from, and any hobbies or interests.
"My name is Aiden Smith. I moved here from Lincoln High Schoo and I like swimming and drawing."
As he sat down, he overheard some of the girls saying he looked hot and some of the guys talking about the swim team. He just smiled to himself and thanked his new alien partner.
"What's your name, anyway?" he asked the symbiote.
"I have determined that your tongue won't be able to pronounce my birth name, so you may call me whatever you wish."
"What about Sy? Like SciFi, since you're an alien and all."
"Sy...I like it. Thank you, Master."
"Just call me Aiden," he tells the creature.
When they are done speaking, Aiden realizes he didn't hear a word of the first half of the lesson. Sy told him not to worry, though, because he caught everything. Aiden then feels him transfer the knowledge to him so that he now remembers everything the teacher said.
After class, the guy who sat next to him approaches Aiden before he leaves. He is tall, lithe, and muscular with short brown hair and deep blue eyes. He wears a T-shirt bearing the school's swim team logo and his last name.
"Hey, the name's Dan Johnson, you said you like to swim?"
"Yeah, I'm joining the swim team. The coach gave me a tour this morning."
"Awesome. We need more guys on the team. A lot of our all-stars graduated last year. I'm the only senior on the team this year, so it's up to you juniors to lead us. I'm the captain, too, but you look like you've got a lot more skill than me. You ever competed before?"
"Yeah, I was my old school's captain and we went to States. I came in first, but I had to miss Nationals because my Grandma died."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Anyway, I'm looking forward to our first practice. You guys have really nice facilities."
"Yeah, that's 'cause the swim team's the only sport that doesn't suck around here. Well, that and girl's volleyball, but does anybody really go to those for the sport?"
"Ha! I guess not."
"Hey, why don't you come down to the pool after school? A couple of the guys are having a pool party so that we can have some fun before practices start. It'll be a good time to meet the team."
"Thanks! I'll be sure to make it. Good thing I drove today."
"Alright, I'll see you then!"

Aiden entered the pool area and was instantly met by Dan who then proceeded to introduce him to the rest of the varsity team. Anthony came from California and was also into surfing. He had the stereotypical long blond hair and surfer accent as well, but he was a lot smarter than he sounded. Justin and Joshua were identical twins with short auburn hair and electric green eyes. Aiden was glad to learn that they didn't do any weird twin stuff like finishing each other's sentences. In fact, the only way they were alike was swimming. Justin was mischievous and funny while Joshua was calm and serious. Finally, Toby was a sophomore who was good enough to be on the varsity team. He was a little shy around the older guys, but clearly a nice kid.
"Alright, then, I just got a text that the pizza's here," Dan said. "Feel free to jump in and do whatever. I got permission from coach to set up a net across the shallow end of the pool so we can get a game going. You guys pick teams while I get the food."
The twins and Anthony went on one side leaving Aiden, Toby, and Dan on the other. After a slice of pizza each, they jumped into the water and began playing. The whole time, Aiden noticed Toby watching him, but figured it must be because he was the new kid. Besides, Sy had made him extremely impressive, and the kid was probably worried he'd be kicked off the varsity team.
