Charlotte was pleased that Naomi was apparently just getting ready to broach the idea of staying merfolk himself. But there was one thing that Naomi was adamant about. Despite all the fun of the last few days, he was taking the opportunity to revert to female. Naomi had no intention of spending the rest of her life as a male anything. Tim was a little puzzled by the newest addition to the Warren. "Brian" Cheryl began, and he was pleased that she was addressing him by his name rather than as master "Someone told me that you used to be a girl, is that true?"
"Yes, that's true."
"So how did you become a male? Did you lose a bet, too, like I did?"
Brian smiled. "No, I didn't lose a bet. I was a woman active in the feminist movement and the last thing I thought I would ever want to be was a male anything. It's just that, it's just that I was sexually very inhibited. I was straight, but in the first place I had a hard time finding men who would accept my politics, and to be honest I wasn't really very physically attractive in a conventional sense either. And even when I did go to bed with a man, it was usually pretty unsatisfying. And once when I was complaining to a friend--this was after the park had been open for a few years--she made the joking suggestion that I use the park to temporarily be a quote, 'male animal,' as they didn't seem to have much trouble finding mates or enjoying themselves when they did. And I treated it as a joke, but I couldn't get the idea out of my mind. And eventually I decided to try it, more as an act of sexual therapy than anything else. And a few hours after my transformation I was having what was by far the best, the most passionate, the most totally involving sex I had ever had. The reborn and very, very female Naomi shot into the cove that the two had agreed to meet in after Naomi returned from the transformation chamber and seized Charlotte in her arms. Charlotte had to agree that Naomi had been right--it was very nice to see and feel breasts that weren't her own.
