Kylie didn’t answer. Was she hiding, waiting for a more inopportune moment to pull an even worse prank? Jennifer hissed again, “You show yourself right now you butterfly winged little bitch!” but still, nothing.
This whole ordeal has rattled Jennifer’s nerves. She cracked a window and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. She normally went outside to smoke, but thanks to that fairy removing her skirt, she was in no position to leave her office. Luckily her office building wasn’t so tall to prohibit open office windows.
She pulled out her lighter and removed a cigarette, putting it in her mouth. She lit it, took a long drag, inhaled, and held it in a little longer than she usually does, flicking the ashes out the window in the meantime, before blowing the smoke out the window.
It was then that she noticed that the smoke she blew had a pink hue and was sparkling. Looking at the tip of the cigarette, she saw it emitted the same sparkling, pink-hued smoke. “Human cigarettes are so filthy,” came Kylie’s voice; sitting on the back of the chair, apparently holding the same kind of cigarette. “I decided to replace yours with our own ‘special blend’.” She took a drag of her cigarette, and blew the smoke at Jennifer. The aroma was more akin to potpourri than cigarette smoke.
“What do you mean ‘special blend’;” Jennifer asked; “what’s it going to do to me?”
“None of that nasty tobacco with the tar, nicotine and chemical additives, just all natural flower petals mixed with magic dust; perfect for a quick replenishment of a fairy’s magic. Plus, it won’t ravage your good looks like human cigarettes. Seriously, why does someone who gets by on her looks take up such a habit?”
That last question didn’t sit well with Jennifer. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“No use answering if you don’t already know. Now, as for what they will do to you, why spoil the surprise? You’ll find out once you’ve finished the rest of your pack.”
Jen looked in the pack to see there were only two cigarettes left. “Forget it, I’m not touching another one of these. In fact, I’m through with this…” Jennifer looked at the cigarette, to find it was practically smoked to the filter.
“…Cigarette you’ve been smoking the whole time we’ve been talking?” Kylie revealed. “Oh, yes, you’ll be as powerless to resist lighting up again as you ever were.” Kylie took another drag of her cigarette and exhaled. The smoke swirled around the fairy and poof; she was gone.
