Seeing as he'd been feeling shitty for the last 2 days, Eric Fawcett had hoped that he'd be able to sleep in today. However any chance of that happening was dashed when his mother walked into the room. "Wake up, Eric; your father just called from work and said he's got something incredible to show you."
"Can't it wait a few more days, mom?" still half asleep, Eric said, "I feel like crap and just want to sleep in."
"Sorry, but your father said this phenomenon only lasts for a couple hours every year." Throwing some clothes at Eric, she said, "Trust me; he says you won't want to miss this."
Realizing that his mother wasn't going to let up, Eric slowly sat up in his bed. Looking at her, still half asleep, he said, "Fine;
just give me 10 minutes to take a shower."
"Okay, 10 minutes." With a smile, Eric's mom said, "If what your father says is true; this is something that will change your life forever."
Eric forced himself out of bed as his mom closed the door; looking at his clock to find that it was only 5:15 in the morning. Silently cursing the fact that he had to get up so early, he made his way across to the bathroom to get ready.
Eric was your average teenage boy; 5'8" and 150 pounds. While he wasn't an athlete like his younger brother Aaron; Eric did decent enough in sports to get by in gym class. Taking after both his parents in appearance; he had his dad's brown hair plus his mom's nose and blue eyes.
As he got into the shower, he wondered what was so important that his dad wanted him to come by his lab at 5:30 in the morning. Eric's dad worked for Advanced Dynamics; a massive world-wide company that was on the forefront of developing advanced technologies for all aspects of life; from the pharmaceutical industry and military to everyday life.
After he'd taken a quick shower, Eric found himself getting excited about whatever it was that his dad wanted to show him. Once he'd finished the in the shower, he hurriedly got dressed and went downstairs. He walked into the kitchen to find his younger brother Aaron sitting at the kitchen table.
Looking at him, confused, Eric said, "So mom woke you up for this too?"
"Yeah; I don't know why dad wants me there." Chuckling, Aaron said, "I'm not into all that science stuff like you are."
If Eric was the smart one of the family; Aaron was definitely the athletic one, he was one of the starting quarter backs on the school's football team. Despite their different interests, Eric and Aaron got along great.
"Well he probably figured you'd make an exception for whatever it was he wanted to show us."
Just as Eric was grabbing a bite to eat, his mom walked into the kitchen said, "Come on you two, your father's waiting for us."
After pulling out of the driveway a few minutes later, Mom turned to look at Eric and Aaron. "I called your father and told him that we were on the way."
"Awesome!" smiling, Eric said, "Did he give you any clue about whatever it was that he wanted to show us?"
"No he didn't; I think he wanted to keep that a surprise." Pausing, Mom said, "Don't worry though; I don't think he'd want to show you guys if it was something dangerous."
