The men sat about in a circle hearing the man's story while waiting for their flight to be called. There's was a mission to save a priceless piece of history, while taking a powerful artifact out of irresponsible hands.
"Yes my friends, Tiri was a fortunate man! He had found his coma and with his change made true history in his actions. The Captain knew of who the great Black was and he tried to protect him from those who might wish ill of him. Odd, to think that people living and people would want a great horse and stallion injured out of some jealousy?
Yet the Captain helped Tiri be the best sire of his King's stable. He kept the Medallion safe from those who would use it's power for their evil ways. Then too, the Captain saw time after time where he used the power to remove those from humanity who would be ruthless and do great harm.
A maiden from the Queen's court sought out the Captain wishing to make love. She watched him out of her love and saw him go to the Black's stable quite often. It was when she saw and heard him talking to the Great Black as if he were a person and understood, that her love changed. She told the Queen's lady in waiting about her Captain's strange doing's as the Lady made plans to use the information to her best use.
The Lady came to the Captain and asked for him to ride with her on one morning. This was a common wish of many in the court as the Captain, a strong and handsome man was unwed.
On their ride she asked him of his personal friend Sire the Black, and if he was his most special friend?
The Captain took exception to her question seeing the nasty thoughts behind the probing question. He told her of the Medallion and it's power to grant wishes which during Tiri's moment of sexual lust changed him from a man to a stallion.
Now the Lady had in her heart the wish to be a queen and saw this as her one great chance. Please Sir, she must have said, she wished her desire to be a great female in history. She wanted to be powerful, yet contented in life, her's would be a life to one great lover, and he to give her his love.
The Captain seeing her out of control wish and the building conceit, offered her to stop under a spreading Chestnut tree and dismount. As the two sat in the shade, as there horses grazed, the Lady told more of her quest for power.
It must have been then that an idea touched the Captain's mind as he took hold of the Medallion and wished the Lady to find her quest right then and there.
