Sparky nosed around the shattered computer components, and a loose wire sparked as it reconnected. The computer monitored flashed and rebooted. The chronivac was back online sort of, as the dialogue on the screen flickered and jumped. The screen flashed subjects in range. THe voices of Simon and Mike could be heard in the hallway getting ready to take Simon walkies! The emitter lay on the floor pointing toward the closed door.
Sparky's nose skimmed along the keyboard. Values resetting. Simon opened the door, he was talking. "I've got a plastic bag you can use, unless you're really hungry, Mike!" he joked.
Mike wanted to strangle his brother for reprogramming him this way.
"No, Sparky! Don--ruff!" Simon gasped as the computer announced, "Resetting subject to female dog."
Mike realizing what was happening, started to run downstairs. He escaped the bulk of the modification, but the lack of a bulge in his jeans, and the lumps on his chest indicated not all of it.
"Michelle, I thought you were going to take Sparky and Simone for a walk?"
"Right, Mom, just looking for the leash."
"Oh, your father put them in the hall closet. And be sure to clean their bottoms."
"I will," she answered licking her lips. Oh, well at least the chronivac's working again, maybe I can fix us later, she thought. Then trotted out the door with her two dogs in the lead. Sparky seemed exceptionally frisky, maybe Simone was in heat. Michelle knew she was supposed to be male, but no longer remembered having a brother. Simone just hoped she could get at the chronivac before anything worse happened. She thought that just before Sparky mounted her.
