Over pizza, Jake and his "new" father Mark talked about all sorts of things, from how Jake's day at school went, to what movies he wanted to see soon, to how Mark's own day went. Jake was amazed by how easy it was to talk to his dad, even easier than talking to any of the foster fathers he liked. By the way, he was quickly forgetting all those fathers, as his memories continued to rearrange themselves. Soon, he figured, he might even forget that he used to be a foster child.
At some point through their meal, his dad brought up the fact that he was unhappy about not being married. "Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options around here. The neighborhood might be accepting of me and my sexuality, but there just doesn't seem to be anyone around who's interested in me."
"There must be someone you like, though, right?" Jake asked, his mind already scheming.
"Well, sure. I like Tim Collins," he said. Tim lived across the street from them. "And he seems to like me, as a friend. But he's not gay, and he's married," he added, grabbing one last piece of pizza from the box.
Jake smiled to himself. Maybe not for long, he thought, thinking of the Chronivac program.
So, after dinner, Jake headed back to his room and expanded the range of the program so that it now included a bunch of names of neighbors, including Tim. He clicked on his name and a profile came up (along with a very handsome naked picture of him):
Name: Tim Collins
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Ethnicity: Caucasian (Irish)
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 185
Build: Fit
Occupation: Building Contractor
Jake immediately changed the sexuality from Heterosexual to Homosexual, but that wasn't enough, obviously. To make his dad happy, he needed to do more.
