Drew held the partly-transformed Lilia in his arms as the water from the showerhead cascaded down on them. Lilia closed her eyes and felt a strange sense of calm: despite her secret being revealed and despite her only partial transformation, Drew had stayed there and tried to help her. There in Drew's arms she believed he really would stand by her whether she was a woman, a mermaid, or something in between. For the first time in her life she could fully trust a human.
As the minutes passed, Lilia's body began to relax and her skin became slick with water. Her legs began to feel funny, like they were falling asleep. She opened her eyes to see the erratic pattern of golden scales on her legs began to slowly spread.
"It's working!" she said.
Drew gave Lilia a comforting squeeze and watched the changes continue. Lilia pushed her legs tightly together hoping to accelerate the transformation. The features of her legs began to melt away - her knees, ankles, and heels becoming indistinguishable. Her webbed feet slowly spread wider into a tail fin as the seperation between her legs ceased to exist. The golden scales continued their seemingly random spread but before much longer had covered the entirety of Lilia's newly-formed tail.
"It's done" she said with a sigh as the feeling returned to her tail.
Lilia flexed and twisted to confirm she had her normal range of movement, now free of the constraints of knees and ankles.
"How do you like it?" she asked.
"It's beautiful" said Drew. "You're a more beautiful mermaid than I could have ever imagined."
He kissed her, the water still falling on them.
Drew's hand ran felt its way down Lilia's stomach and along the transistion from skin to scales. She squirmed in delight in response to his touch. His hand strayed lower...
