”He is? When was his birthday?” asked Dawn. Two seconds later, she realized, “Oh, right, magic. But why didn’t you just wish he had clothes that fit?”
Jarred shrugged. “He ran off.”
Dawn said, “Of course, I was halfway through at the salon before I thought about your ring. But it's still nice to be pampered. Didn't you buy anything?"
"We teleported all our stuff home," Jarred answered.
"Well, I didn't get to do any shopping," Dawn pointed out. "I think I could use a few new outfits to match my new hair. You don't have anywhere you need to be for the next couple of hours, do you?" She reached into Sam's backpack, pulled out another of the banded bricks of $100 bills, and shoved it into her purse.
"Uh, maybe we should wait for Sam," Jarred suggested.
"Wait for me to do what?" Sam asked.
"Dawn wants to buy some clothes now," said Jarred.
Sam frowned. "Clothes shopping with a girl? I don't --"
"Oh, come on!" Dawn interrupted. "I've been in the salon almost this whole time!" Sam was still frowning, and she sighed. "Look, we'll only go one place -- into that department store, okay?" She nodded toward the nearby store entrance. "And Jarred can wish you both find it more interesting."
"Ha!" Sam exclaimed. "If he makes that wish, we'll probably end up gay."
"That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world," Dawn pointed out.
"No, I got it," Jarred said. "I wish Sam and I would be very interested in helping Dawn with clothes shopping, but that no changes will be made to the two of us in order to make this happen."
The world seemed to ripple briefly for the three of them.
"What was that?" Sam asked.
Jarred just tapped him on the arm and pointed to the department store entrance. There was a big stand-up banner with two pictures of Miley Cyrus -- with her current short blond hair -- modeling skimpy outfits. The one on the left was a two-piece leotard, revealing a couple inches of midriff. The one on the right was a white fishnet minidress, with black pasties and a black G-string under it. Between the photos, text read, "The Miley Collection for Teens and Pre-Teens."
"Uh, guys?" Dawn said. They turned around to see that she was now wearing a blue halter-top minidress and knee-high boots with high heels. The makeup she had on her face after her salon visit seemed more generously applied and vividly colored as well.
"Oh, wow," said Sam. "I think --" He stopped talking, his mouth open, as he saw some girls about his own age walking by, all of them in sexy, skimpy clothing. A girl a few years younger was walking in the other direction, dressed similarly; she appeared to be walking with her mother, who was in a more conservative outfit, although it did still include a bit of visible midriff and a pair of high heels.
Jarred noticed, too, and completed Sam's thought. "I think we'll be interested because all the clothes are gonna be hot!"
"Come on, guys, you can't tell me that looks good, can you?" demanded Dawn, waving toward a couple of young girls walking by in vinyl bikini tops, vinyl short shorts, and ankle boots, the outfits showing off a distinct lack of curves.
"Hey, if that's the price we gotta pay for girls our age to be dressed like that..." Sam said.
Dawn rolled her eyes and glared at the two boys. "Jarred, do the right thing, please."
Jarred said. "Okay, Dawn, I wish..."
