"There you go" Thought Emily with a bit of sarcasm as she connected a small quadruped base to the woman's torso. It was really heavy so she had to use the chains to hang the base up in the air while she was connecting the wires to the driver's nerves. Emily was still angry at her for damaging her glorious body and, despite saving her life, she wanted to give her a lesson and make her more than a driver, but a vehicle herself. Many hours have passed when Emily had finally connected the last bits of wires to the nerve system. The woman was still unconscious and lay peacefully, unaware of what has become of her. Now that the operation was complete, Emily returned to the main building where she had left the kid. The boy had woke up by now and was curiously examining some of the destroyed equipment. He turned around when he heard the approaching sound, but did not seem surprised or afraid, if only very curious.
"Miss! Miss!" He shouted, running to her "Was it you who saved me? And your armour is so cool! Are you a knight?"
Emily didn't know what to say, she partially expected a very different reaction to her appearance. But the boy seemed overflown with joy as he bumped into her and started clinging to her leg. Emily followed him with her eyes, still a bit unsure what to do, and meanwhile just rose her hand slightly, giving the kid more space. She still couldn't find the right words when she decided to simply smile back and rub his hair with that hand.
"You are so strong" The boy whispered "I wish I was like you one day. That woman, Bella, did horrible things to me. She kidnapped me and wanted to sell me to bad people, but then you came and saved me! I... I have nowhere to go and... nothing to eat..." Emily realized he was now in tears "Good lady, I haven't eaten for days! Do you have something for me?" He looked up and Emily simply could not say "No" to those puppy eyes. In fact, she was so moved by the scene that she decided to save the recording in her memory files. She zoomed in on him and took a few photos. These might come in handy later if she were to find where his parents were. However, this also meant that she interpreted the situation in a completely different way and the woman, whose life she just saved was in fact...
