Even after laying in the bath tub for 4 hours after changing, Charlotte was still stuck with her large fish tail . She was desperate to change back and her parents had just run out of ideas. She had been washed and dried multiple times now and she was now wearing jewellery and a few items of clothing to see if wearing human items might trigger the change. A bra and a top but nothing worn past her waist. It felt like a big waste of time because although Charlotte was pulled around, fed a range of "potions" and forced to stare and concentrate on her fins nothing was successful. Charlotte's father returned to the bathroom one last time, he had closed the computer finding no more ways to change his daughter back. He suggested it was time for bed, maybe she would change back by the morning. In fact, it would be another hour until she gained her legs again.
Again, Charlotte was made to stand on her fins whilst her parents shuffled her left and right and they eventually made the way to Charlotte's room and put her in bed. It was an unsightly sight seeing her fins hanging off the bed but Charlotte understood they did what they could. She was left alone in the dark, with only the thoughts of her curse running through her mind.
"And so the curse begins your highness"
Charlotte's eyes shot open and she was greeted with what looked like a spirit. It was the same spirit who visited Princess Amelia years ago. She tried to scream for help but for some reason, she couldn't speak. With her legs currently not in use, all she could do was listen. The spirit explained that he was the one who turned Charlotte and the only way to change her back was to follow him. If she was able to lose enough weight then she would be set free. If she refused, then she would remain like this for life, plus he was able to change her mother also due to being part of the bloodline. As she was a Scorpio, Charlotte's mother would become half scorpion at random times.
Charlotte was able to speak again to give her answer but the bedroom was sealed off to prevent Charlotte escaping. She gave it some thought and decided to not risk becoming a mermaid anymore. She agreed to the spirit's demands. As soon as she gave her answer, Charlotte was immediately set unconscious. The spirit transferred the mermaid to his castle and made sure Charlotte was forgotten by everyone she knew, including her parents. Charlotte awoke as a human again on the cold floor in a changing room, the portal one side and a large troth in the other. It wasn't long before the spirit visited her again so he could explain everything to her, including her ancestors past and what she needs to do to get back home. The spirit made it clear that Charlotte's greed was going to try to overcome her and may stop her reaching her goal. The spirit could not control Charlotte's greed but only she could.
Charlotte was now alone by the mermaid pool, unaware of when she would transform again. She stared at the portal from a distance watching her parents sleep. Tears rolled down her face.
Time now moves forward to present day to when the man just went through the portal. What happens to Charlotte?
