Crossroads

added 9 years ago O

Katie slowly crept through the living room trying not to draw the attention of the young Asian girl now sleepily watching t.v. on the couch. Mika and Kellie seemed okay for the moment now it was time to check on the others.

Moving towards the upstairs bathroom Katie could see that Samantha and Tricia had left, only Mary Elise remained. Slightly alarmed Katie approached the attractive red head who was in the process of washing her face.

"Hey Mary, where's Samantha and Tricia"

Mary Elise rubbed the water from her eyes and smiled at Katie. "Samantha finally stopped throwing up," she said. "We decided to put her in bed for now. You sounded a little busy downstairs so I asked Mika or Claudia for help."

Katie sighed while looking towards the bedrooms, no one seemed to aware of the changes that had taken place downstairs. "Is that where they are now?"

"Yeah," Mary Elise replied. "Tricia said she would keep an eye on her while Claudia went to get changed."

Mary Elise was going to say something but paused now staring curiously at Katie.

"What is it," Katie asked.

Mary Elise shook her head before answering. "You're probably going to think I'm nuts,"

"You know you can tell me anything," Katie stated putting her hand reassuring on Mary Elise's.

Mary Elise smiled and laughed softly. "Okay," she said. "I'm not sure if you did something with your hair or if its the light but I could swear you look younger." Katie responded with a nervous giggle. "Yeah right Mary Elise," she said. "I just happened to find the fountain of youth downstairs."

Mary Elise smiled and began to giggle. "I knew you'd think it was crazy. People just can't start growing younger." Mary Elise paused and looked in the mirror. "Still it would be nice to be able to be young again."

Mary Elise turned towards Katie with a smile. "Don't get me wrong I'm not saying we're old hags or anything but sometimes I wish I could be a kid again for a day. You don't realize all responsibility you have to have as an adult. I don't think I enjoyed my childhood as much as I could have. I guess we can't go back though can we."

Mary Ellise sighed and looked back towards the mirror. "I guess it would be fun to have the knowledge I have now back then. Avoid the mistakes of childhood, savor being young, and not be in such a hurry to grow up."

Katie paused for a moment. At first she had been alarmed that Mary Elise had noticed she had regressed back to 20. She hadn't realized that her regression would be perceptive to others. She was a little angry at herself for not thinking of changing everyone's perception however, she had found out an interesting bit of information about Mary Elise.

Mary Elise had always been the kindest and most level headed of the group. Judging by her memories of this reality Katie realized that she and Mary Elise were as close as two friends could be without being sisters. A unique opportunity now presented itself. Katie could regress Mary Elise to 9 like she had planned with no knowledge of her regression or she could share her secret. Katie pondered her decision it would be nice to share this with someone but it could also end badly for both of them, should she let Mary Elise in on her secret or keep it to herself. For once Katie was not sure what to do.
