You sleep surprisingly deeply, and when you wake, the events of yesterday seem like a bad dream. You don't even want to check your nose, in case it hasn't changed back, but you still stagger to the mirror. When you arrive, you are rewarded with the view of a normal, human nose. You are wide awake by this point, and so happy that your nose is back to normal, you don't even mind the fact that the fur on your body has not yet receded. You figure it is just a matter of time, since your nose only received a dose of BOD indirectly, while your skin was actually sprayed with it. Besides, fur can be hidden or shaved, unlike a nose.
You feel bad about what you might have done to other people by spraying the candles, but you put it out of your mind. After all, it's only temporary, isn't it? You go about your morning blissfully happy, ignoring the nagging feeling that you have forced other people into the same predicament you just went through.
However, you are plagued by your guilty conscience. You honestly don't want to hurt others, your sense of morality was just shaken by the unexpected events of yesterday. You wonder what might have happened to others who used the BOD-spritzed candles, and scenarios begin to run through your head. What if it happened to a child? How would they cope?
It is a warm day, and even though you are inside, you are hot, and the nervousness isn't helping. You pour yourself a cool glass of water, but your mind continues to race. What if one of the people who used your candles was elderly or in bad health? What if the shock of having a dog nose killed them?
At that moment, almost as though it were in response to your frantic train of thought, you hear a siren in the distance. An ambulance? What if it is responding because your candles actually hurt someone? You lick your nose to calm yourself down.
Wait...what?
It takes a second before you realize what you have done. When it finally registers, you realize you have your mouth open, tongue hanging, and you are panting. How long you have been like this, you are not sure. However, you are certain of one thing. Your tongue was never long enough to reach your nose before. You pull your tongue back inside and close your mouth, and it still fits. However, when you go to the mirror and stick your tongue back out, you realize that while you thought your ordeal was over, it might have only just begun.
Your tongue is hanging out of your mouth to a length which is undoubtedly dog-like. Your human nose is still moist from the last lick, but to make sure you're not imagining things, you try to lick it again. Shocked, you watch your tongue curve up from your mouth and cover your nose in saliva.
The cup of water forgotten in your hand, you stare at your lolling tongue and try to wish it away. It is not as prominent as a nose, but in a sense, scarier. It means that although your nose has returned to normal, the BOD is still in your system, and affecting you in ways you could never predict. You try to think of a solution, but there doesn't seem to be any way to stop the BOD from randomly affecting you.
Although you are at a loss, you finally decide to...
