Ty's Power

Long term change

added 9 years ago AP O

Mike concentrated harder on his human memories, and found that he could pull them up after a while. It was always curiously slow, his human life fading in over the horse's memories until he clearly remembered his real past. During those times, he was aware of the differences between human and horse. The mass and strength of his Shire body was a constant, but when he focused on his humanity, the difference was always amazing to him. At first, he was amazed at how much stronger he was as a horse. However, as the days and weeks passed, his perspective shifted so that his amazement became that the human form was so small and weak. And the awareness of his body was totally different. As a human, his senses were muffled and dull. The world was a much richer place to a horse, full of scents and sounds. Vision was not as good, but he could detect motion very far a way, and the other senses more than made up for the blur and distortion.

Being a horse was so... Comfortable. Mike found that more and more time passed between his 'human' refreshers. Pulling the wagon with Dan was easy, and Liam took excellent care of them. There was also some sort of magic on them that kept them healthy. Mike had cracked a hoof on a large stone, and though it was painful, the injury had healed itself in hours. He had no worries, and even those few concerns that he had when he first changed were no longer present. Mike also had very few thoughts, which he sometimes came aware of. Was it wrong to just be content grazing, working, and sleeping? He pondered that every now and then, until even the concepts of right and wrong got too fuzzy to identify.

Time lost all meaning, and he continued with his equine life through hot and cold times, sometimes breeding, but mostly sharing the pasture with Dan. It was late one afternoon that a human appeared in his pasture, and long-ignored human memories suddenly resurfaced. Mike snorted and looked at the human. He was in his early 20s, dark haired and familiar looking. Tye!

"You're looking pretty good, Mike." Tye grinned. "Still enjoying life as a horse? Or are you getting bored after 10 years on four hooves?"
