Perhaps if you find a place which this body has no memory of, your new body will stop acting beyond your control. You are not sure if it will work, but the idea of getting away from this strange army with its battles and slaves appeals to you. You consider for a moment taking the slave woman along in order to free her, but you still don't trust your body around her. You decide it will be better if you get out of there alone.
At first, you are tempted to leave immediately, leaving behind all reminders of your body's former owner, who you've finally identified as Gorvind, more fondly known as Gorvind the Terror. You still cannot remember what he did to earn that enchanting moniker, but you are fairly certain you don't want to find out. However, you reconsider your urge to flee, since your memories of this land are still hazy, and it may take you a long time to find a safe place to live. You instead begin to pack carefully, taking as much as you think you can carry, which is a surprisingly large amount, given your new body's strength. You are interrupted a few times by subordinates with some concern or other, but sticking your head out the tent flap and growling is usually enough to send them on their way. You carefully conceal your travel knapsack until you are fully prepared to leave. The very last thing you take is Gorvind's sword, albeit reluctantly. However, you have no way of knowing what dangers you may face, so it wouldn't be practical to leave it behind out of disgust for its owner.
Although you are in the body of a huge hulking man in the middle of a vast army, Gorvind's body is able to achieve some degree of stealth. In the darkness of night, you manage to make your way to the edge of the encampment and into the nearby woods. You see rather well in the dark for a human, and the fact that this land has two moons helps, but the forest cuts off nearly all light. Slowed a bit, you finally come across a stream, and use its banks as a path through the trees. You move as quickly and quietly as possible for what seems like hours on end, but your new body has a great deal of stamina. As dawn is just starting to lighten the sky, you reach a clearing. You finally get your first real look at the countryside around you, and you are amazed at its vastness. While it bears a familiarity to your original world, you note that there are aspects of this world which are beyond imagining. You wonder what else differs in this world, and if aspects of fantasy and myth exist.
You smirk to yourself at that thought. As if being a soul stuck in someone else's body wasn't fantastical enough!
Although you are not particularly attached to Gorvind's body, your new perspective on this world is starting to create in you a certain degree of hopefulness. Not only do you have a strong body that can defend itself and work hard, but you also have the benefit of your original memories, which contain knowledge of technology probably never seen in this world. Even if it takes a while, you should have what it takes to build a fairly satisfying life.
Making your way back to the stream, you find a small side pool that is deep enough to wash in. Removing all your armor and clothes, you scrub away the events of the past day and night, eager for a new outlook. Instead of putting on the same clothes, you pack the armor and undergarments, and rather don the most nondescript outfit you brought with you. While your size obviously makes you stand out, at least perhaps you won't be quickly recognized wearing only simple clothes and a cloak. You wrap your sword in your sleeping blanket and thrust it also into your knapsack. After shaving your face (a new experience for a female) and cleaning up your appearance, you are ready to go on your way.
Nevertheless, you realize you are still not sure what your way is. You can't remember enough about this world to make a smart choice, so you decide to go with your gut. You head for...
