Something didn't seem right to you, something about your queen… But you don't know what, and it frustrate you.
Then suddenly, it hit you: She's Tulipelle's mother, but don't seem older than any other fairy you've seen, only far sicker! In that case, she can't be dying of old age…
You know it's not polite, but you need to ask. "Sorry to be blunt, my Queen, but… From which illness are you dying?"
"From the same disease that kill any queen that can't find them a princess, miss MoonGlow…" was her answer "The same harm that kill any fairy that can't find them an heartfriend, really. I'm dying out of loneliness… Only ONE other thing can kill fairies: The deep disapproval of our actions, as a whole, from the overwhelming majority of our kind."
"And what if you find a lover now?" you wonder
"It's already been a whole year since I started dying. I fear saving me isn't possible anymore, Irisette MoonGlow." She scolded you.
Not convinced by her choice for the next queen, you demand "But why choose ME?!? It's been a day since I become a fairy! How can I hope to be a good Queen? How can I know what to do, which decision I need to take?"
"If anything, your questions and unwillingness to become queen is proof you will be a good one. Like any queen should, you will always take the decisions you think are the best for everyfairies." she said, with royal determination "Do you have more questions?"
"Only one." you answered "Can I visit my family on Earth before?"
"I fear we don't have the time…" Then, your Queen made a sing to one of her guard, who pushed you toward a royal embrace. As soon as you were in her dying arms, the queen kissed you on the lisp.
Like she promised, all her knowledge and memories, the knowledge and memories of every fairies queens that ever was, were flowing to your mind. Because the kiss of a dying queen was how new ones were made.
You now knew everything you needed to know. Like all queens before you, you knew the name of all your subjects, and that as soon as they were born. Seeing a fairy was all you needed to know their name, their job, and every living fairies she was related to. Also, you always knew the exact number of fairies currently alive. But the magic which let you know all that was forcing all fairies to address you as "my Queen", even friends, daughters or lover.
When you got all of her knowledge and memory, your predecessor's body become fairy dust. Then, in front of the dust-pile, bowing to the old queen a last time you said "You were a good queen, Rosette SilverDust. Probably the best to have been. I don't think I will ever be as good as you were, but I swear I will never stop trying."
"I… I will let you now, my Queen…" said Tulipelle, on the verge of crying.
But as soon as she tried to go, you caught her by the wrist. "Tulipelle! WAIT! I… I want your help."
"You… You want ME a… as your first counsellor?!?" She wondered.
"No, for something even more important." For the first time since you are Queen, you see the beginning of a simile appear on her face. But before she was able to say anything, you interrupt her, adding "But before we discuss that important matter, I have something else to ask…" And then, doing it as suddenly as you decided it, you passionately kiss the lovely miss SilverDust, who soon reciprocated it.
Fairies get a slight glimpse of the future during key moments of their lives, like a first kiss with their lover, the enchanted kiss that end their wedding ceremony, or the birth of a daughter. That glimpse can be sound, a vision, or even a bit of knowledge. And in that case, knowledge it was. The knowledge Tulipelle and you were made for each others, that your mutual love will be eternal.
When the kiss finally broke, you solemnly ask "Princess Tulipelle SilverDust, do you still wish to go to earth, becoming it's first fairy ambassador?"
