As Katie was about to leave Mary Elise grabbed her arm alarmed at first she turned quickly to face the young red head. Hr concern quickly faded as she saw the sad look on her face.
"Katie," Mary Elise said with a mournful look. "Do you think you could change Tricia's appearance? I would hate for her to made fun of for her gangly appearance."
Katie looked down at the ring and thought. As much as she wanted to fulfill Mary Elise's wish the ring somehow told her it was impossible.
"Sorry Mary," Katie said. "The ring can only affect age. I can make things older or younger. I can also alter things to match the age of what I've changed but transformation is beyond the rings power. I can't change Tricia's appearance at this age."
"How can you be so sure if you don't try?" Mary Elise asked.
Katie held out the ring. "Tthe ring told me. Don't ask me how but it somehow told me that kind of change is beyond its power. I'm sorry it's a ring of age not a ring of transformation."
Mary Elise looked down at the floor scuffing her barefoot against the floor. "Well let's change her clothes. I don't want them to fall off the poor girl."
Katie smiled at her friend and made her wish. Slowly Tricia's clothes began to change.
The sheer black ankle socks on Tricia's feet began to change. Soon they fit her foot correctly transforming into a pair of rainbow tube socks. Tricia's loose jeans and short also began to change becoming a pair of blue jeans with a plain yellow t-shirt. Now trica looked like a typical 10 year old girl. Her hair remained straight, which surprised both girls, and with her now form fitting clothes compensated for her awkward childish appearance.
Mary Elsie smiled. "Glad she knew how to dress as a kid," she said. "With that outfit she doesn't look so gangly. Just a little tall for her age."
Katie smiled at her friend. "Glad you approve we should probably change Mika too," she said. "I didn't know I could change clothes when I made her younger. She was practically falling out of her clothes, plus she's a little younger than the rest of us."
Mary Elsie smirked and suppressed a giggle. "Really, how much younger?"
"She's nine," Katie said. "I was originally going to make us all nine but then you said to make you ten so here we are."
Mary grinned as the girls exited the room. "Nine huh," she said. "Bet she's adorable. Wonder what that would have been like if I hadn't said anything."
"You want to see?" Katie asked. Mary Elise turned, giving Katie a curious look. "I don't know,"she said. "I kind of like being 10."
"It would only be for a moment," Katie said.
Mary Elise sighed. "Fine," she exclaimed. "But only for a moment. I want to be part of the group not someone's little sister tagging along."
"Trust me," Katie said as she made the wish. The changes to Mary Elise were subtle at best as she became nine. Her height diminished and the dress Katie had changed for her became looser. She now found herself eye to eye with Katie.
"Well that's done," Mary said glumly. "Can I be ten again."
Katie smiled and made her wish. Mary Elsie waited but instead of frowning taller she found herself becoming smaller. Now she found herself looking up at a much taller Katie.
"Hey," a now 8 year old Mary Elise squeaked. "You said you'd make me older not younger."
Katie suppressed a giggle as 8 year old Mary Elise stomped her foot and glowered up at the much taller girl. The hem of the dress she wore now rested just above her ankles. "Sorry," Katie smirked. "Couldn't resist but you're such a cute little munchkin." Katie rumpled the now grumpy red heads hair before making her wish. Slowly Mary Elise grew back up until she became 10.
Mary Elise straightened her dress and glowered at Katie. Her anger quickly abated and she soon smiled at her friend. "Nice trick," Mary stated slyly. "Remind me to pay you back later righ now let's change Mika."
The two 10 year olds snuck downstairs and looked at the slumbering Asian girl on the couch. Nine year old Mika slept peacefully in overly large clothes that were in danger of slipping off her tiny body. Katie smiled at Mary Elise before making her wish.
The girls watched as Mika became ten gaing a couple of inches in height. Still they could see that when she stood up she would still be a couple of inches shorter than Katie. Next the girls watched as Mika's overly large clothes began to change. Mika's overly long pants crept over her tiny feet becoming a pair of khaki pants. Mika's top also transformed becoming a fitting purple sleeveless t-shirt. With Mika's changes complete the girls began to creep upstairs.
"Hey Katie," Mary said. "Before we go up I want to ask you a favor. I think you might owe me after that little stunt you pulled."
Katie looked over at Mary Elise she could see the mischievous look I her eyes,what ever she was thinking it would probably be fun.
