From dragon to orc at a thousand feet...

added 11 years ago BM S

Ordinarily, John would take the time to ponder the situation he was in. It's not every day you need to break a beautiful elf princess (apparently) out of jail. But John was a dragon, and the dragon in him was ready to stretch his wings.

"Sssssssstand back," he announced. The dwarf and elf princess watched in awe as John blanketed the thick wall with flames for about half a minute. John then backed up as far as he could, then leapt forward, did an impressive front flip, and kicked the weakened wall with the strength of his full dragon weight. The wall exploded outwards, and the cell's occupants streamed outwards just as quickly. Sunlight and fresh air! Freedom!

"Showoff," Sanin said, with a friendly jab at John's side. John grinned a toothy grin. Sanin was overjoyed at being free. He jumped around and rolled about in the grass. He looked over at the elf. She looked around at wonderment, still a bit spooked at being saved by a ferocious dragon. "Are ye all right, Princess?" Sanin asked. He covered himself up, embarrassed about standing naked in front of her.

She slowly nodded. "I can't thank you enough...gentlemen. What can I call you two?"

Sanin stood up straight. "I am Sanin Oakheart of the Dwarves of the Gold River. It is an honor to be in your presence, your highness." John chuckled at the posh accent Sanin was putting on, or at least was trying to.

The princess looked up at the dragon. "I'm John," he simply said. The princess giggled. John glanced away felt himself blush (or, blood rushing to his face, at least). Was he falling for her? John's sexuality was getting a workout. He had gone from straight, to gay, to...bisexual?

"John," she said. She had a very pretty voice. "That's an odd name for a dragon, isn't it?"

"You don't know the half of it, lady. I mean...your highness." John looked around. They had apparently broken out of a prison cell, but they were in the middle of a clearing. The prison was apparently built into the side of a cliff. It was a beautiful view, surrounded by tall trees and wide blue sky.

The princess began to wander around, trying to find out where exactly they were. John moved his huge head and neck close to Sanin. "Isssssss ssssssshe really a princcccccccessssss?" John asked the dwarf discretely.

"Is she really a princess?" Sanin asked incredulously. "What else would she be? Her family runs the whole bloody kingdom!" John stared at her fine figure as she turned around to walk back towards them.

"I can't be sure, but I think I know where we are," she said. "The palace is directly south of here, but I'm not sure how far."

Sanin thought for a moment, then elbowed John in the side. "John here'll fly that way and see if he can spot it."

John was ready to grumble about Sanin volunteering him, but he was interested in testing his wings, and very interested in helping out Jenny. "You got it," John said, spreading his wings. "I'll be back in no time, princccccccessssssss." John sighed. That word took him about ten seconds to say.

Getting a running start, John was airborne and higher than the trees after just a few flaps of his mighty wings. He felt great. John roared with delight as he took in the view. With his sharp vision, he could see tiny bugs on the tree branches. Looking up, John saw what appeared to be a gray castle a long way in the distance, but the sight barely registered in his dragon mind. John was overwhelmed by the joy of being a dragon. His instincts kicked into high gear and nearly took over everything.

His instincts told him to fly towards a mountain in the north, where the other dragons lived. At that moment, John would have felt perfectly content living the rest of his life as a dragon, and was ready to leave everyone, including Brian, behind. Dipping on of his wings, John quickly turned his huge body around to fly in the opposite direction.

"Where's he going?" Jenny asked from the ground.

"Wrong way, genius!" Sanin called out.

John heard these comments, but they didn't register with him. A few more flaps of his wings and he would be out of sight. But then, a horrible sensation shot through John's body. It was as if the fire in John's blood was suddenly extinguished. John gave a strangled cry as he struggled to maintain his altitude. His wings were pulling back into his body! Frantically looking around, he saw his red scales smooth out into green skin, and his snout pushed back into his face. He was turning back into an orc, at warp speed, and still in the air!
