Sheena said to Naomi, “If I turn you into a fairy, then you can give birth to Yukiko as fairies do. I must warn you, though; becoming a fairy is a permanent thing. You can take human form, but that’s it.”
Naomi was astounded, she asked, “Become a fairy; and how would I give birth to Yukiko?”
“You would birth a seed, about the size of a baby’s head compared to fairy size, which will need to be planted and tended to until Yukiko would be born from its blossoming. If you wonder how, don’t worry, it’s instinctive.”
Naomi pondered this for a moment. Becoming a fairy, and a mother. “Will I be able to continue my life here?” She asked.
“No, as a minor by this world’s standards, you cannot have a bride to tend the flower while you’re away; and the complexities in keeping both yours and a fairy child’s identities a secret from humans are too great on your own. The Council would have you sever all ties to the human world forever.”
Naomi’s face sank, be pregnant forever, or leave everything and everyone behind forever. “However,” Sheena continued, “there are some solutions you and the Council might be pleased with.” Naomi’s face lit up with hope again. “Allow me to adopt Yukiko, and I can also teach you the ins and outs of being a fairy on the sly; or I can be Yukiko’s live-in babysitter.”
Naomi considered her options carefully; after what seemed like forever, she looked at Sheena and gave her answer.
