…I’ve had a crush on you for a while now.”
“You… have?” Tiffany responded.
“Yes, it was just before I started going out with Tim.” Clover landed on the coffee table, sat down and crossed her legs. Her wings folded behind her and fell upon the table like sheer fabric. “I was afraid; afraid of how our friendship would be affected if I told you, that’s why I found someone else. If I was already in a relationship, I figured it would help keep my thoughts about you at bay.”
“It didn’t, did it?” Tiffany asked, knowing her friend’s relationship with her boyfriend had been lukewarm, at best.
“My thoughts always go back to you, Tiff. Once or twice, I even imagined you…” Clover caught herself.
“Yes?” Tiffany asked. “Go on; imagined me…”
Everything else was out in the open; she figured she might as well say this, too. “I’ve imagined you as a fairy.”
Tiffany’s face remained unchanged in her expression. Finally, she gently scooped up her friend into her hand, brought her close to her face and said, “If there’s anything at all you can do to make that happen, I beg you to do so.”
“You really want to become a fairy?”
“With all my heart and soul.”
