The young man walked into the room, took one look at Ken and said, "Darn, you ruined it. I spent days preparing this spell and you just tripped all over it."
Ken couldn't speak. He tried to watch the young man but he couldn't turn his eyes. The young man was digging through stuff as if looking for something but he kept mumbling complains about how stupid Ken was. "Don't you know not to go around touching things in a magic school?"
Finally the young man found something and brought it over to Ken. "I suppose you'd like to say something right? Here, let me fix that."
The young man painted something on top of Ken's lips and Ken was able to speak. "Thank you and sorry. I wasn't expecting a painted room. Besides didn't you just arrive today like I did?"
The young man said, "Naw, I arrived a week ago. I'm on a scholarship program because I excel at magic. So I got a little head start. My name is Melvin but call me Mel for short."
"I'm Ken. So what kind of spell were you doing. I've never even heard of anything like this."
Mel said, "It's called Mural Magic and there are many things that can be done with it depending on the ingredients of the paint and how it's applied. I was mostly setting it up as a transportation system so I could quickly move from my dorm to anywhere on campus that has a painting."
Ken asked, "So you were going to travel the school as a nude painting?"
Mel said, "No, I hadn't finished the spell yet when you stumbled into it. That's why you can't move. I needed another hour before I applied the movement paint."
Ken asked, "Can you get me out?"
Mel said, "In an hour. It's bad enough you stumbled into the painting. If I try to free you now, I could really mess you up, maybe even kill you. You'll just have to wait."
Ken said, "Alright, I could handle this for an hour."
Mel said, "It isn't all good news. In an hour, I can give you the ability to move and you can visit other paintings but if I know my Mural Magic and I'm pretty sure I do, I can't bring you out into the third dimension. You messed up the spell by stumbling into it too early. The ingredients I would need to fix the mural are extremely rare and it might take a year to find all the necessary ingredients."
Ken said, "A year? I have to be a painting for a year?"
Mel said, "Probably but the mural isn't messed up too bad. Let me do a little research. I might be able to paint some clothes on you. I might be able to come join you without getting stuck myself. I'm sure I can make changes to the mural to give you a bed or other things. I'll get back to you after I've done some research."
