little 8 year old Alice was dropped off at her local library by her mother while she went to do her shopping. Going into the library he went up to the librarian Elizabeth and said "Hi Elizabeth! got any new stories or books?"
A 38 year old brunette turned to Alice and said "Ah Alice... No not really any that you would be interested in. Something about some odd penguin for toddlers but nothing you should be interested in... Although have you ever heard of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter?"
Alice smiled and said "No, what's it about?"
Elizabeth said "an old couple who find an interesting child in some bamboo... how about we go and sort some of the books that got turned in while i tell you it?" The two of them then sorted books while Alice listened to another tale Elizabeth told her. This had happened quite a few times. Every now and then for the help Elizabeth would give Alice a book or two, but this time Alice's mind was somewhere else. "then the moon princess went back home... the end. Are you ok Alice? you don't seem yourself today."
Alice said "oh it's nothing... just a small little thing that'll pass."
Alice's mother came into the library and spotted her daughter and said "Alice! time to go. Thank you again Elizabeth for looking after my daughter."
Elizabeth said "It's fine. she's a good helpful girl... in fact I've got a special book I want her to take a look at... If that's alright."
Alice's mother said "...it's not one of those special books is it? i dont want her having anything sketchy..."
Elizabeth said "No no no. It just has a good amount of advice and information."
Alice's mother said "Alright... could you be quick though? I got some perishables that need to be refrigerated."
Elizabeth nodded and went to get the book that contained the universe's rules and then gave it to Alice and said "Your a clever girl. You should have no problem solving your problem with this, just return it the next time you come. It's very special to me."
Alice took the book and said "Thanks... wait isn't this tha... thank you Elizabeth." she bowed a bit and then went with her mother back home. She then got back home and went to her room and then opened the book and saw the words "think about what you want to know and then turn the page". Kind of wanting to test out what this was about she didn't think of anything and then started to flip pages. The pages ended up turning blank and then turned back to the first page which was now blank. wondering about the book she turned the page and this time the pages were filled with words. Alice's curious mind absorbed the pages and then got some understanding about what this book was, and wondered how Elizabeth got it but didn't give it much mind at the moment. Elizabeth had given her the book to help her with her problem. If Alice was honest with Elizabeth and did as she asked Elizabeth may be more willing to help her understand what was going on with the book. However for now she was going to solve her little problem, but what was the problem?
