In this setting, a race of non-humanoid octopus like alien race, let’s call them Squibens, has discovered Earth. The Squibens scientists secretly study Earth for resources to bring back to their people; they quickly discover a big one, Milk. See, mammals are not native to the Sqiuben planet, nor are any life forms that secrete nutrients for their offspring really, but the Squiben scientists found that milk is addictively delicious to their people, even wool would be a luxury item of the highest expense because they don’t have anything that has fur on their planet, and if they could find a way to mass produce these products closer to home they would stand to make a lot of money.
There is only one problem.
Keeping non-sentient life forms in captivity to harvest materials from them (like milk or wool) is illegal in Squiben culture, they aren’t even allowed to trade with humans for it if that is where the human got it. But there is a loop-hole, the Squibens are allowed house and feed sentient life forms and except a biological product (like milk or wool) as a form of rent and payment.
The Squiben put vaguely worded ads on the human internet to get humans to “rent” there affordable housing for years at a time. To maximize the yield of milk and hair the Squibens only accepted female applicants and gave “complimentary” genetic modifications to increases hair growth, start lactating, build mammary mass, and gain the ability to universally communicate telepathically like the Squibens (which is good because the house mates come from all over the world so a lot will not be able to speak your language)
The tenants are free to go home any time they want, but the genetic modifications to return them to normal cost a lot, so they would return home a fur covered udder chested freak unless they save up a lot of wool to pay for their normal bodies back. Tenants can make extra money farming, the main product on the colony planet there staying on is a firm and bumpy skinned, pink banana-like fruit that a majority of the tenants have started calling fuckberries because they are a mild aphrodisiac to humans and a great makeshift dildo. But the quickest way to pay to get their old bodies back is to sign up for the “Nursery” program, the becomes surrogate to one litter of mutant babies (the method of impregnation is different in each house) and acts as wet-nurse and nanny to the other children born to the “Nursery” program, by the time the tenant has given birth she has made enough to go home. Nursery kids are up for adoption, but there parent(s) would have to earn them a human body too to go to Earth.
The Squiben houses are also strange, there are fore of them and they all have slightly different layouts and modify their tenants in slightly different ways but some things are the same. The bed rooms are like Japanese pod hotels, the toilets lick you clean, the communal shower is just a car-wash like hallway between the bedrooms and the rest of the house, all soaps and shampoos are designed to smell nice to Squiben and tend to smell foul to humans, there is a doctor’s office with a many tentacle Squiben doctor and the dining room containing a trough filled with alien food and rubber drinking nozzles on the walls.
The first batch of a few hundred humans from around the wold has been separated into the four houses and is now fully mutated, the ones that have given birth have gone home human and a new batch of fresh humans are on their way. Are you one of the new humans or one of the mutant the Squibens made?
