You stand up and shyly speak, “Hello.” All the mermaids immediately look toward you. They all had eyeshadow fully framing their eyes, colored lips and painted fingernails. In addition to their hair, you notice all these colorations shared the same scheme of two colors with their tail colors transitioning from one to the other.
“A human!?” one shouted; her color scheme was teal and blue.
“How’d she find us!?” another spoke up; her scheme was goldenrod and a forest green.
“She’s kinda pretty!” said a third with an orange and yellow coloring. That was all you could make out in the overlapping conversations. There was a fourth who seemed to be calming the others down. She had a silver and sky-blue coloring.
“Oh, uh… I didn’t mean to startle you; it’s just that… wow, this is a dream come true for me!”
“Oh, really, and why is that?” a fifth mermaid asked, her arms folded. This one sported a violet and azure coloring.
“Looking to make your fortune off us?” the sixth one, bearing red and indigo, asked.
“Hush now, you two!” The silver and sky-blue one spoke up. “Let her speak!” She spoke to the others in a stern and authoritative tone; perhaps she’s their leader or something.
“I just love mermaids, that’s all; and… I just want to know if I can join you for a swim.”
“And is that all?” the red and indigo one asked, skeptical of the purity of your intentions.
“I said hush! This human wishes to join us. I say we let her.” The orange and yellow mermaid, who complimented you before, nodded in agreement, followed by the rest. After the sextet dove in, the silver/blue one beckoned you. “Come on in… what is it you humans say… ‘the water’s fine’?”
