“Simply by stepping foot into this place,” Twixlie continued, “you’ll soon become fairies anyway.”
“WHAT!” Both girls shouted.
“The fairylands are brimming with fairy magic,” Desnia said, “humans with no magical heritage tend to soak it in and it changes them.”
“Wait,” Jenny said, “so anyone who just casually strolls in here becomes a fairy?”
“Well, we did mention protection spells after all.” Desnia said. “Most humans who visit these lands, ambassadors of human kingdoms and the like, are given items or enchantments to guard against these effects.”
“Quick wish us out of here!” Tiffany said.
”It won’t do you any good,” Twixlie said, “fairy magic has already taken root within you.”
“We can wish it out of us.” Jenny said.
“Unfortunately, that ring no longer has the power to strip fairy magic.” Desnia said.
“Did you tamper with it, alter its abilities or anything?” Twixlie asked.
“I… robbed it of its ability to alter minds.” Jenny said.
“I thought as much. I’ve read about rings like those. Their powers, and abilities, are said to be limitless. However, if you impose limits on them, their powers become limited as well.”
Desnia added. ”Most responsible people who come across such artifacts tamper with them in such a way so as to not be tempted by infinite power. After all, absolute power corrupts, absolutely as they say.”
The girls’ hearts sank. “So, can anything be done?” Jenny asked.
