“Clemens?” One of his co-workers asked him for the third time.
“Huh? Sssorry Jacob? What wasss that?”
“Sheesh! You’ve really zoned out there.”
“Sssorry, I’ve jussst had ssssomething on my mind lately.”
“Wedding?”
“Not jussst that, sssomething elssse hasss been bothering me.” Clemens replied as he looked into the phone number to start working out where it came from.
“And what would that be?”
“Who knowsss, but it’sss ssstill sssomething I want to look into, jussst to be sssure.”
“Well don’t forget, they really don’t approve of this sort of thing.” Jacob saw fit to warn him.
“I know that, but I jussst need a moment to find thisss out. And besssidesss, it isss the lunch hour.” Clemens corrected him. “Which meansss a sshort time ssspent looking into thisss isss alright.”
“Alright then, but remember, 40 minutes until the next tour.” Jacob referred to the Zoo Tours that Clemens’ was sometimes called in to conduct. Even with his seniority, it was a task still expected of him, especially considering how popular he was with the kids.
Back to task though, running the number through a search engine with a few other keywords, the main result was that of the Church of Lord Jesus, Jolo, West Virginia.
“Odd.” He murmured quietly to himself. Looking into it some more told him that it was one of the Churches that had gained some infamy for Snake Handling. “Why would they want me?”
A few minutes of additional searching revealed little further information, other than some contact details and the odd article that frequently gave the bad news. Closing it for the time being, Clemens decided that additional research could wait. After all unless they started hounding him, then there wasn’t much that he could do about it in any case. Best to just let Jenny know what he found later on, and leave the matter to rest for now.
And thinking about Jenny, she had been talking a lot about the Animatrix Serum lately. Clemens could tell that she was having a major internal debate about it, weighing up the pros and cons with regards to it. He knew he’d rushed into it before checking to see how others would react, and that had had some devastating consequences. It wouldn’t surprise her that Jenny was taking a lot more care with her decision. Perhaps later on, he’d take a look into what progress had been made lately, even though they’d been tight-lipped in recent months something may have leaked out. Or perhaps they themselves were preparing for an announcement. Either way, that too was something that would have to be put aside, since he’d already spent a bit of time researching into this Church.
Besides, he had only another 25 minutes to get some lunch and make it to the greeting room before the next tour started.
