In the sanctuary of Mika's bed room, the friends had gathered to finalize how they'd spend this Halloween. All three were such fun ideas! Somewhere deep within her, Katie still had the heart of a seven year old in spite of her adult knowledge and ten year old body. And she didn't want to have to choose. So she began thinking of how she could have her cake and eat it too.
Claudia admitted that while she'd enjoy being a child for the night, as Mika's adopted grandmother, she had a responsibility to be there for her if anything went wrong. And while Katie didn't NEED to change reality with her ring, (in fact, originally she couldn't, but as she had used it more, changing reality with the ring to suit the changes in age had become second nature), she wanted to be there as the adult to look after Mika. Though she did concede for Katie to shave some years off her for the night so she could keep up with the others while keeping her so she could pass as Mika's grandmother.
"I have an idea!" Katie declared, her adopted sister and their friends all looked at her. "The high school party runs longer than Trick or treating right? And the collage party runs likely past midnight right? And it's going to be the weekend after Halloween. So how about we visit Karen first! Make her a little girl, we go trick-or-treating with her, then we go the high school party, then the collage party! We don't have to chose! We can do all three!"
The girls all stared at each other then at Katie. It was risky, daring . . . and it gave the kind of excitement that called the little girls like moths to a flame. Katie would of course chose to dress up as a witch.
