“Okay.” Dave said to himself, the new office keeping his voice from getting out. “If this Pen is for real, gotta find a way to test it.”
Sitting down at his new desk, he spun the chair around to get a look outside as he considered his options. If the Pen was for real, and was responsible for his (very) recent promotion, then he’d only just experienced the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
His attention wandered to what he was wearing. Dark blue trousers and jacket, over a black turtleneck sweater, topped off with black shoes and socks. Considered acceptable by the company which expected its workers to conform to a professional dress code but did require him to keep the jacket on even as the temperature climbed, perhaps that was something he could do as a test to verify the Pen‘s power, if indeed it had any.
Another option was to try it out on one of the other workers (though he couldn't see them due to the solid wall separating him from them, and the door facing the wrong way for that purpose) for whom he had a few ideal candidates. Not least Jenny, certainly it would feel nice to repay the debt to her after her prank. Jodie, the secretary he had now was another potential target.
And more than just clothes, perhaps species? Make either them or himself something else?
Turning back around he looked at the Pen for a moment, pondering the possibilities before reaching a decision.
