"What do you mean permanent? I don't want to become a mermaid! You know I don't like the water".
"All I can do is beg for your forgiveness. I'm so sorry".
Your wife had no reason to forgive you. But if these changes were going to get worse, then she had no option but to accept this curse.
"Where are we going anyway?
"Somewhere, anywhere away from society. I'll try to find us a suitable spot where we can hide but live together".
"Together? As soon as this car stops, I'm leaving and I don't want to see you again. You can go back home, live a normal life. And I'll become a freak and live the rest of my days as a mermaid. At least I'll be away from you".
You are hurt by her comment but you can understand why she doesn't want to be with you anymore. You keep driving until you come across a large dense forest, that can only be passed through using a single bumpy path. It looks like people haven't been here for a very long time. The road gets more bumpy and the forest gets more thicker as you drive through. With a stroke of luck, you turn your head left. You look upon a large open field with a stream running through the centre. When you stop the car, you get out and look around. It was even more impressive when you find a boarded up shack at the other side of the river.
Your wife leaves the car with a car blanket wrapped around her as she has no other option other than go out completely nude. You and your wife come closer to the shack. Like the road, the shack was not used in a long time. You pry open a boarded up window and the shack could easily be accessed now. You open the door from the inside. As soon as your wife steps inside, she is disgusted by the smell and the look but if she needs to hide from society then this is going to be her new temporary home.
"Well, this is the time where you leave now. All I need is some money and for you to get me some clothes and food. And I can buy food in the nearest town when I need it".
"Please honey, we can make this work" You try to convince her to let you stay. But It looked like you couldn't offer any other solutions. Plus it was your fault she's like this. You left to get her her supplies knowing the next time is the last you'll see her.
Your wife had spent the day cleaning out the shack so she could live in it for the time being. When night fell, you returned to find the shack was in a lot better shape. You knocked and she answered to you holding new clothes and a basket of food that should last her for a few days. The shack had nothing but an old broom and a shelf.
"Thanks, you can go now" She slams the door and begins to tear up. Not only has she forced herself to live alone, she now has to live the rest of her life under her husbands wish. Day 5 was about to draw to a close.
