Dave did not smile back. He let out a frustrated breathe from his nose, the air visible due to the cold temperatures. "Great! Just great!" Dave threw his hand in the air, wanting to throw something. He slapped his arm agains his side and clenched his fist. "We're stuck like this until he gets a shipment in! Why didn't he already have the... whatever... in stock?"
Kyle knew it was a rhetorical question, but he answered anyways. "Dude, chill. Its not permanent. And no one will think we are freaks! We can just hang out, like Merlin said, until we can get separated. No big deal."
"It is a big deal, Kyle. We're stuck together for who knows how long." Dave angrily stated, glaring at his other head. He wanted to yell more, but he stopped himself. There was no point yelling at his friend. Dave took another deep breathe, and let the air slowly escape from his nose. "Sorry. Let's just get inside."
The two-headed teen carefully turned around and stepped onto the welcome door mat. Kyle tried to turn the knob, but the door was locked. He quickly reached his hand into their jeans pocket but, it was empty. "Shit, we locked ourselves outside. My house key was in our fused pants."
Dave groaned, but said nothing in response. Kyle tried yelling for his brother to open the door, but Jason neither responded nor opened the door. Dave pounded on the door, impatient, but Jason still did not come. "Jason! Let us in!" Dave yelled. Dave turned to look at Kyle. "Isn't there an extra key somewhere?"
"Yeah, but I have no clue where my dad hid it." Kyle answered, still staring at the door expectantly. He could feel Dave's gaze on him, giving up, he turned his head to face his friend. "Fine" Dave and Kyle turned themselves around, their back now to the door. "Lets to split up and look for it."
"Really?" Dave said, trying his best to suppress a smile.
Kyle smiled back, happy to get his friend to at least crack a smile. "I think its under the flower pot, over there." Kyle pointed to one of decorations that was on the porch.
Dave and Kyle knelt beside the small, fake flower pot. Dave moved the pot to the side, revealing the key. Before he could grab it, a familiar voice called to them. "Great, looks like I'll have to find a different hiding spot for the extra key."
"Dad?" Kyle asked. He tried to lift himself to his feet, but too quickly.
Dave wasn't ready, and they nearly fell over. Dave caught them by holding his hand against the ground. Dave gave Kyle an annoyed look before placing the flower pot back over the key. He then stood up with Kyle, and whipped his hand on his side of the jeans.
"Hey boys" Kyle's dad, Owen, greeted them. "I guess you'll be spending the night over here, Dave?"
"Uh... yeah." Dave wasn't sure how to respond. It was so weird that Owen did not panic at the first sight of them. "Kyle and I wanted to spend some time together since we haven't been able to lately."
Owen laughed, obviously finding something amusing with what Dave said. "I never did understand how you boys enjoyed being so close." Owen moved passed them to the door. "Let me get the door for you two. I guess two heads aren't better than one when trying to remember to bring a house key."
Owen opened the door. Kyle and Dave carefully walked inside after him.
