“I…I’m sorry!” The fairy said handing over the cherry. “Please forgive me; I was just hungry and thought you wouldn’t miss it.”
You smile and say, “Keep it, in fact…” you scoop a dab of frosting of the cheesecake with your finger and place it on top of the cherry. “…Here you go.”
The fairy was surprised. “Thank you, miss…”
“Dianne; and you’re welcome. What’s your name?”
“Call me Amethyst.”
“Pleased to meet you Amethyst.” You said holding out your hand. She grabs the tip of your index finger and shakes it. “If you want to, you can stick around with me. It gets kind of lonely all by myself.”
“I’d be delighted to.” Amethyst answered, and she happily ate her cherry while you enjoyed your cheesecake, the two of you making small talk about the weather and little things happening around you.
You still couldn’t believe you were having a picnic with a real-life fairy! You’ve wanted to ask her something for a while now, but haven’t worked up the courage to do so, until now.
"Amethyst?" You begin.
"Yes, Dianne?" She answers.
