Ra-Barbus was the first to scamper off in the hunt for a soul to claim. The little imp grinned to herself, feeling awash with mischievous energy. A tiny, slowly dwindling part of her was afraid of the changes, of these feelings, but even that part was swiftly overwhelmed by the sinful thought of impish misdeeds. Children were easy to convert to imps because of this, and swiftly gave into the desires since they were not lustful creatures.
Ra-barbus still remembered little things about humans, being human, but it wasnt nearly or important or interesting now as he slunk of to the edge of a school. Closing his eyes he took his "human" disguise, which looked just like he had except with the bone white sneakers. He then approached a boy he remembered being his friend.
"Hey Justin!" He called out.
The other boy turned, "Hey Robbie, where were you? We need you to play basketball"
Ra-barbus grinned at the name, who the heck was Robbie anyway compared to him. "Who needs basketball, I have a new game we can play!"
"Alright what is it."
"You just have to do as I say, come on."
Justin sighed and follows Ra-barbus to a secluded corner of the playground. "Ok, what gives."
"Okay, first, in this game of hide and seek, there's one hider and the rest are seekers. And when you find them, it's your job to bring them back to home. So the hider has to be super good, that's why there are lots of seekers. So, do you want to play my game, by my rules?"
"Sounds kinda easy, but alright." Justin said.
"Alright, now first we shake.." Ra-barbus pricked her thumb with a thorn, making her bleed and shook his hand.
"Now. Close your eyes. Now turn around. Now lower your heads. Count to ten, you feel your mind bend. Count to nine, you feel just fine. Count to eight, now let's rewrite fate. Count to seven, the darkness in you I'll now leaven. Count to five, your soul takes a dive. Count to four, you couldn't care less about before. Count to three, now you're like me. Count to two, if only you knew. Count to one, now THIS will be fun!"
She flapped her hand six times.
Justin stood up stiffly. Ra-barbus grinned devilishly and padded behind him. Finding the zipper just as he knew it should be he pulled it down. Justin's skin, his clothes, everything about his human self fell away like an empty shell.
