Madame Illusia laughs at the man's curse. "A fine wish, sir! But can't you see I am already part of this folly? Go now with your family, and you will see just what the folly is."
Timmy's parents stalked out, filled with grief and anger. The new ram followed, turning back to give a bleat of sorrow. Illusia smiled. "Out you go, now. Perhaps you will be less foolish from now on. The next time you won't be so lucky, and you'll be leaving back the back door instead."
Lucky? Timmy hung his wooly head as he exited behind his parents. She considered this lucky? Then, as his tail cleared Madame Illusia's tent, he began to feel strange again. He bleated in fear as his parents spun around and gasped.
"You're a boy again!" His mother grabbed him up in a hug before he could look at himself, but Timmy found it was true. Even his clothing was exactly the way it had been.
All those other people had been changed, and they didn't turn back, did they? What was different? Timmy remembered what Illusia had said as he left. Something about leaving by the back door. Of course! If you exited the same way you came in, you changed back to whatever you were when you came in. But if you left Madame Illusia's tent by a different door, like all the others who had been led out the back, your new shape became permanent!
Timmy thought about running back into the tent and telling everyone the secret to escaping Madame Illusia's ransformations. But then he remembered what else she ahd said - next time he would not be so lucky. If he went back, he was sure that he'd leave through the back door this time, forever stuck as a Ram.
