Your name is Jacob Tristan Vandersteen (pronounce “Van-Dare-Stain”), or J.T. for short or “Jake” as your best friends call you. You’re a straight-A student in high school and you just started your sophomore year. You’re fifteen years old and just a few months away from turning sixteen. You’re five-foot-five inches tall, skinny, with black straight hair and brown eyes.
Every morning, around 7AM, you walk through the side-gate of your high school and you pass a metal bench which stands close to the entrance. As you approach the entrance, you don’t see anything on the bench. As you get closer, an article of clothing suddenly appears on the wooden bench just as you’re a few feet away. So strange, isn’t it?
You stop and look down at the item, which is neatly folded and wrapped up in a plastic, sealed bag. On the face of the bag is a tag with your name on it… “For J.T.V.”
“Huh? My initials?” you wonder, as you gently pick up the plastic bag and stare at the contents. It was almost as if someone had left the bag for you, knowing that you would pass by there that morning and walk past that bench.
You glance at the contents and you make out that the object looks like some sort of jacket. The thing is rather heavy and thick and colorful. Should you open it?
You look up and examine the surrounding area. Is anybody watching you? You slowly turn around and look in every direction. You’re always one of the first students to arrive at your school so you don’t see anybody else around.
“Well, here goes nothing…” you sigh, as you look down and just tear the side of the bag open, allowing the contents to come out.
“Oooh… This is kinda nice!” you say quietly, while holding up what looks like a sports letter jacket. It looks exactly like the kind of jacket that athletes where, with the first letter of their school or their name on the front. The face of the jacket is all blue with the big letter “J” embroidered on the right front side and pockets on the left front side. The jacket is completely made of leather, with a nice furry collar and thick sleeves to protect and offer warmth for the cold weather. The front has snap-on buttons which run from the collar to the bottom.
You slide your arms through the sleeves and you notice how the jacket fits you perfectly. In fact, the jacket is a bit too big on you. It makes you feel like you’re one of the jocks. You also find it an incredible coincidence that the jacket has the big letter “J” on the front, which matches the first letter of your first name.
Once you snap closed all the seven buttons on the jacket, you’re overcome by a nice, warm feeling which engulfs your entire body, especially your muscles. You feel, good, happy, healthy, and strong. You’re filled with fire, power and energy. You feel wide awake and alert. Is the jacket affecting you?
You pick up your backpack and you walk into the building, where you put your backpack and your books into your locker. Then you grab just your English and your math books, so you got your first four periods covered since periods 1 and 2 are English and 3 and 4 are Math. You continue to wear your jacket but you unbutton the cool buttons since you’re inside now.
You attend three hours’ worth of classes and you’re relieved when you finally get to have your lunch break during recess. As you finish your meal and walk into the boy’s bathroom, you decide to remove your jacket for a moment.
As you examine your reflection in the large wall mirror, you discover that your biceps look bigger, your abdominal muscles are more defined, your pectorals seem larger and overall, you just look more muscular everywhere!
“What the heck?” you gasp out loud.
Luckily, you’re the only person in the bathroom.
So, you grab your letter jacket and put it on.
You got 2 more classes, then you go home just to return for a soccer game later. You make a mental note to check yourself in the mirror after you get home from school…
