Clemens the Snake: Reporting Odd Facts

added by Bahamut626 8 years ago O

The apartment was quiet when Clemens returned, not that surprising given that Jenny had already told him that she’d be working later to catch up on the paperwork that morning. And given that he’d managed to clear a good chunk of his own workload for the week already, had been able to leave only slightly later than normal.

“Guesss I’m cooking then.” He remarked to himself as he got out of his work clothes first, leaving them in the bedroom before slipping on an apron to begin preparing dinner.

Since he used to live by himself he did know the basics of cooking and soon had the chicken prepared and in the oven before starting on the vegetables for Jenny. Just one of the accommodations they needed to make to live together was their very different diets. His digestive system simply wouldn’t accept plant matter anymore, and would likely cause serious complications if ingested in large quantities, the herbs and spices he would add were different though, being far less and used for flavour, which was why he could handle its limited amounts. Jenny still being human, meant she was omnivorous and could manage both meat and plant as well as each other, in fact, she would enjoy better overall health with a plant-based diet.

It wasn’t lost on him that he did miss being able to have a carrot, or an apple, or cabbage, but there were efforts being made in that department at the moment. And given just how large a market the Animatrix Serum itself was becoming, he at least suspected that it would only be a matter of time before such issues had a resolution, whatever it might be.

While the dinner was cooking, Clemens turned his attention to the rest of their apartment, they’d cleaned it pretty good when they got back so he didn’t see anything that needed a touch up, not just yet anyways.

He’d just returned to check on their dinners’ progress - pleased that he could still do it right - when he heard the door opening.

“Clemens?” He heard from it.

“In the kitchen Jenny.” He called out to her, setting the pans to simmer as she joined him.

“I see you decided to start without me.” She jokingly chastised him.

“Well you were working late thisss day, ssso I thought it bessst to sssurprissse you with thisss.” He replied with mock hurt.

“Apology accepted.” Jenny answered as she wrapped her arms around his naked torso. “And at least you’re doing a good job of it.” She added as she looked over Clemens’ culinary efforts.

“Well I did have to learn how to cook myssself. I never did forget how to cook really.” Clemens gave the reason for why as he returned the embrace.

“I guessed as much. So? Anything interesting happen today?”

“That would depend on how you define interesssting.” Clemens replied with a hint of worry in his slightly hissing voice.

“Did something happen?” Jenny grew concerned at his response.

“Nothing dangerousss thankfully, but it wasss weird.” Clemens paused for a moment to work out the right words to use. “I wasss looking into thossse people who were wanting me, and found out about sssomething. Thossse people calling are from the Church of Lord Jesssusss, Wessst Virginia. And sssomeone from that church wasss with today’sss Tour Group, left me a card and left before I could ressspond to him.”

“Seems like they’re really trying to get you on board.” Jenny worked out from his explanation.

“It doesss, I don’t like it.” He admitted. “It feelsss like they’re trying to leave me with no choiccce given how much effort they’re putting into it.”

“Well, I suppose if they keep it up, then a complaint can be filed against them.”

“Perhapsss.” Clemens thought about it for a moment. “But for now let’sss ignore them, if they get the messsage, they might decccide to ssstop it, and if not…” There was little need for him to finish that sentence.

“That’s probably best for now.” Jenny agreed before moving onto a lighter topic. “I’m just going to get into something more comfortable, and remember, you cooked, so you clean up.” She added with a smirk.

“Yesss ma’am.” He replied as he brought out the plates.

The dinner ready now, he was quick to serve up their helpings and have the pans and tray in the filled sink for later, carrying them out to the dining table where Jenny was waiting without a shred of clothing on her.

“Dinner isss ssserved.” He said with a smile in his voice as the plates were set and he slipped out of the apron before sitting opposite her.

“Thank you.” She replied softly as he felt her foot rub past his own. It brought a smile of sorts to his face and as they began to eat, they were able to forget about the whole deal with the Church of Lord Jesus for a little while.
