Veronica felt a strange sensation in her ears, as if they were being tugged and stretched. As a model, she was trained to ignore discomforts on the catwalk, only to deal with them once she returned backstage, and so, she continued. Unbeknownst to her, her skin started developing a light sparkle to it as the heat intensified around her body.
Seeing the close-up on the monitor, the show’s producer turns to the makeup department and says, “I didn’t call for body glitter or… elf ears? Who did that?” Every member of the makeup crew looks at one another, all denying they had anything to do with it.
As Veronica reached the end of the runway, the heat seemed to converge around her upper back. The next sensation would not be easily ignored; as she turned to head back up after posing at the end of the catwalk, she paused.
Cassidy, the next model in line, and Veronica’s best friend, met her at the end and whispered, “C’mon, move it; you got three more dresses to…” It was then she noticed Veronica’s heavy breathing and pooling tears. “Hey, is something wrong?”
Veronica’s back erupts in a flash of light and glitter as huge glowing butterfly wings of multiple colors flare out behind her. Cassidy took a step back, and the crowd gasps, but then applauds, thinking this was part of the show.
“Where the hell did those wings come from!?” The producer shouted. “I didn’t approve of this fairy nonsense! How many times do I have to tell people to inform me of ANY costume changes!?”
“Veronica,” Cassidy said, “what just happened to you?”
