The carriage pulled up to Tulipelle’s balcony and the two of you exit. “Shall I wait here as you get ready?” The carriage driver asks.
“Not necessary, we can make it there ourselves.” Tulipelle answered. “Besides, my heartfriend needs to learn how to use her new wings sometime.” Your wings seem to involuntarily twitch as she said that. With that, the carriage pulled out and the two of you enter Tulipelle’s house.
“You’re really going to teach me how to fly?!” You ask excitedly.
“Well, there’s not much really to teach, per say… don’t worry, you’ll find out what I mean when we begin.” Then she went into her room.
You began to follow, when you noticed your old clothes folded on the couch. “Uh, are these going to return to full size?” you ask.
“Are what?” Tulipelle asked.
“My old clothes.”
“Oh, dear, I almost forgot about them. Yikes, has it been that long? They’re going to return to full size within the hour. Actually, we’re going to need to try out the portal anyway, your clothes might be a good test subject.”
You went into Tulipelle’s bedroom to see Tulipelle already changed into a short red petal skirt with a green leaf bikini top. She handed you a sundress made of iris petals. Slipping off your gown, and putting on the dress, you remark “Fitting I suppose; and purple is my favorite color, too.”
“It’s yours.” Tulipelle said, looking toward you from a drawer she was rooting around in. “I rarely wore it anyway, and it looks good on you.”
”Really?” You said, striking a pose you once saw in a fashion magazine.
“M-hmm. What say when we’re finished with the portal, we visit the seamstress and she can make you a wardrobe of your own.”
“I’d like that.”
Tulipelle smiled as she went back through the drawer. “Ah, there you are!” She said as she pulled out a short silver stick tipped with a golden star bearing a crystal in the center.
“A wand?” You remarked.
“Yup, it’s an all-purpose tool.”
“Will I get one?”
“It takes a certain advanced knowledge of magic to use one, but don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll be able to someday.” Tulipelle then stuffs your clothes in a satchel made of leaves, with vines acting as the strap, which looked a bit too small to hold them, but sure enough, they fit. She puts it on, slipping the wand into the holder on the right side. “Now, let’s get those wings of yours moving.”
Out on the landling, Tulipelle hops off the edge and flutters out slightly before turning back to you. “Now, start by spreading your wings and beating them; slowly at first, they’re more powerful than they seem.” You did as she said. “Feel the sensation.” It was unique to say the least. It seemed to unlock a deep seeded instinct within you. “Now, speed them up.” As if you had already decided to do so, your wings move faster, lifting you off the ground. You look down, any other time, this might have startled you, but not here.
“Now what?” You eagerly ask.
“Now you just follow me.” Tulipelle said as she flies off. Tilting your body towards her, you take off after her. Your instincts were in high gear, weaving around branches and tree trunks, expertly dodging a squirrel and easily keeping up with your instructor. You reach the stream where you lost your cellphone the night before, but at your new size, it looked more like a river now.
Following it back upstream, you skim the surface with the tips of your flowery shoes. You see Tulipelle land at the cave entrance and you set down beside her. “So, how was your first flight?”
Taking a moment to come down from your adrenaline high, you finally say “I’m having a hard time believing that was really me that just did that!”
“You’re becoming a real fairy, Irisette.” Tulipelle said.
Feeling a sense of pride, you said “I like it.”
You and Tulipelle flew into the cave where they find…
