... a room that looked at first glance completely normal. Lucy was about to enter, when she saw something was badly wrong. A picture, taken last Christmas and showing her as Luke was different. Instead of Luke, it showed Lucy. A four year old Lucy.
Lucy stared at her room in complete shock. So far any changes had happened to her alone. As she stared, she noticed another subtle change. Her walls, previously white, had a pinkish tinge, and before her increasingly fearful eyes, the pink tinge was spreading and getting darker. Before she knew it, Lucy screamed at the top of her lungs, "Mommmmmmmmyyyyyyy!" and had started to run back downstairs.
"What happened" Lucy's concerned mom, asked.
"Mommy. My room is changing into a little girls'. You gotta help me!" Lucy explained.
"WHAT?!" her mother said. While it was a good sign Lucy recognized she wasn't supposed to be a five year old or a girl, it was troubling that changes her progressing beyond her daughter. She turned towards the phone, when Lucy's dad ran into the room. He looked slightly pleased, yet troubled at the same time.
"I've got Jack on the phone"
"Lucy's room started to change" her mom said flatly.
Jack heard everything. "What? Sorry. That was me. I can fix it..."
"Wait. I'll call you back" Lucy's father said. Once he ended the call, he turned to his new reluctant daughter.
"Sorry to say this, but I don't think we should allow Jack to continuing his experiments."
"What? But that will mean I'm stuck like this" Lucy wailed.
"Its still possible that the effects will wear off, partially or completely. I don't like it, 'Lucy', but the reality is that I'm thinking of the possibility of another change. Your mother and I can still look after a five year old girl. A toddler or under, we can't" Lucy's dad said.
"But that'll mean I will have to grow up again as a girl" Lucy wailed, ignoring the irony that the one most resistant ot her change was advocating to make it more permanent.
Lucy's mom sighed. "Probably, yes."
