Bryan, his shoes having fallen off, propped his bare feet on
the rim of the toilet seat.
He thought about getting back onto the floor to retrieve his
shoes, but what would be the point of that? He couldn't
possibly fit his feet into them.
But, while he hesitated, his other clothing continued to
become cumbersome on his rapidly dwindling frame. His pants
and undershorts slipped off and fell to the floor at the
base of the toilet.
"Damn!" Bryan muttered.
He pulled himself onto the windowsill and pushed open the
window. By this point, his Big Burger T-shirt was weighing
him down heavily. He pulled the enormous shirt over his head
and dropped it to the floor, which looked a good distance
below him.
He stood, naked, in the window. A cold breeze caused
gooseflesh to raise all over his body. His brain was
thinking too clearly. He just knew he wanted to get away
without the humiliation of being seen like this.
But the ground outside looked a long way down. Bryan grasped
the edge of the windowsill and lowered his body out the
window. Then, he let go and fell. He landed with a jolt on
the damp asphalt in the alley behind the restaurant.
He looked up at the window and the lighting shining through
it. Well, he had made his decision. There wasn't any going
back, at least not that way.
He looked around the dark alley. He saw David's car parked
across the alley. He ran across the damp pavement.
His friend's car looked enormous. Perhaps he should wait in
the car until David's shift ended. He tried to see if the
car was locked.
Fortunately, the car wasn't locked, but he could barely
reach the door to open the car and slip into the passenger
side seat.
His butt pushed back in the seat, his legs didn't even much
dangle over the edge.
"I must be only about two feet tall," the increasingly
worried youth said aloud.
And, he felt a sickening certainty that he was still getting
smaller.
