It was strange. You remembered being male. You remembered your wedding day with Selene. You remembered every sexual encounter you'd had with Selene as a man, as well as all the joy she had when she announced that she was pregnant. Yet, you were now floating in the water, hugging a man who looked exactly like you and feeling your breasts compress against his chest. You could also feel your tail slowly move back and forth to keep you at the surface and you could feel both the human you's arms and Elizabeth's arms on your back, pushing your long hair against your gills. And at the same time, you got the very real sense that he was you... or at least the male you before your run-in with Florencia.
"I don't know how all this would work," you said to him, feeling his love for you feeding you greatly. It did even more than Jake's academic love and practically erased the sexual hunger that was growing in you again, "I remember everything about being male..."
"And I can remember the guilt of feeding on those two jerks after becoming you," Michael said to you.
"And you and Selene really want me to stay?" you asked.
"You may have somehow created the male version of you... or recreated you," Selene spoke up, "but you were Michael... and I didn't fault you for getting yourself transformed, Michelle. I'm happy to have Michael, but I can't exile you... you're just as much my husband as Michael is... though... Michelle... if I catch you having sex with Michael, we WILL have words."
You released your hug from Michael to hug your wife.
"It is okay, sister," you said to her, "This is all odd... but... I'm... I'm now fully the siren version that Florencia turned me into, but I still love you. I wouldn't do anything that would hurt you."
"Thank you, Michelle," Selene smiled, "and don't worry... I've met some nice men that you and Elizabeth will just love..."
"It'll be odd... dating as a woman," you commented, "I remember everything I did as Michael when we were dating... I remember dating as a man... but now... well... some girl on girl action isn't a "bad" thing..."
"Your siren mind will prefer male attention... though that's all part of the feeding instinct," Selene answered, "the memories... and all that are probably the fact that you and Michael are the same person. Up until this happened. I'm not sure how it worked... but I won't complain. I did get Michael back, and I even get a new sister... as well as Elizabeth getting a sister. In a way... it's a happy ending for all of us..."
"Yes..." you nodded, "and thank you for loving me, Selene..."
"I wouldn't have married you if I didn't... and honestly... it it turned out there was no way you could have been Michael again... it isn't like I wouldn't love Michelle," Selene hugged you, "you are one and the same."
"So how did this happen?" Jake asked, now from the shore and was helping Emily up onto it. "I've never read any story of mermaids actually creating things with their magic... that's really more of Disney thing and they rewrote a lot of legends and stories to make things better to sell to little kids."
"I can't explain it, beyond what I have..." you said slowly, "I think the pain came as my body finished its mental adaptation to being a siren and my siren magic finally stabilized and was painful in doing so... probably because of the odd way in which I was transformed to begin with... and as I finished...I thought over all the problems I faced... my want to remain a siren thanks to all the adaptation to what Head Sister Florencia had done... the knowledge that she might not change me back or might not be able to change me back... the knowledge that I needed to be male for Selene... and my magic just flashed..."
"Jake does have a point though," Sally said slowly, "sirens don't have that kind of power. No siren ever has. Our magic is geared to allow us to feel and feed off of love directed to us... or to feed on human male lust... or transform humans into new sirens... usually through sex. The creation of a new being with all of your memories and matching your personality is completely unheard of."
"Maybe it was a side effect of the way I was initially transformed into Michelle," Michael commented, "You all said it wasn't a normal method of transformation..."
"It wasn't, but it was also one that has been used in the past," Sally answered, "To our knowledge, that's never happened before..."
"Maybe the sisterhoods that did that in the past didn't record the occurrence," Michael commented, "there are a lot of things humans do that they don't record and thus many may not remember..."
"It's possible," Sally mused, "but it's still not something that you can prove... as our magic isn't that strong or naturally geared for that purpose... we aren't witches and Triton's trident is purely Disney... not real... especially when there are no male sirens. There never have been."
"Well... unless some guy asks, I won't be turning anyone into a siren, so don't as me to test whatever theory comes out to explain this," you answered as you pulled yourself out of the water and began to dry your tail with a towel.
"And that is perfectly fine," Sally answered.
"So what will this mean with Florencia?" you wondered, "she was supposed to turn me back as a point of justice..."
"She'll still have to answer for robbing another Head Sister," Sally sighed, "She can't get out of that."
By now, Head-Sister Julie had also come out of the water and began to dry herself off as well.
"Though... Michelle... while this may have resolved some of the old mental conflicts or the issue of restoring "your" maleness," Julie spoke, "you were still adapting and changing quickly... I'd still like to run some blood tests on you... Michael may exist again... but you very well still could be pregnant."
You felt your tail dry and painlessly split into two human legs, the legs of a rather attractive woman with the tail flukes reshaping into human feet. You slowly got up, and like the other sirens, you now showed no shame at your nudity. Everyone here was either a siren, herself, or in the case of Frank, Michael, and Jake, were brothers in their respective sisterhoods.
"Okay," you said slowly, "I'm not sure I'm ready to be a mom..."
"You were ready to be a dad a few months ago," Selene commented, making Michael chuckle.
"That was different," you answered, "I wasn't the one who was pregnant... YOU are/were. Having something growing inside me... carrying a child...that's going to be new for me."
"It's okay, sister," Selene smiled, "you know that Michael and I will help you get through it if you are indeed pregnant..."
"Thank you," you said to Selene, "Would... would you and Elizabeth come along?"
"Sure," Selene nodded, "Michael will come to."
"What about Jake and me?" Emily asked, feeling left out, "If I'm to be part of your sisterhood... shouldn't I be included?"
"You're welcome to come along, too," Selene said politely, "It might give us a chance to get to know you better as well."
