The faintest, most distant, most sudden sparkle of blue is caught in the farthest corner of your eye.
You pause, standing frozen on the side of the back road on which you were taking a walk/jog. Where did that sparkle come from? You stiffen up and walk backwards as methodically as possible. To your incredible relief, you lined your head up with exactly the right spot and saw the blue sparkle again! Carefully turning your head towards it, you see it to be coming from somewhere in the trees adjacent to the road. You make sure you walk in a line as straight as possible as you cross the road and into the foliage and shaded, leafy ground; the sparkle constantly coming out of view, but thankfully always coming back. You trek a solid 30 feet into the trees, and your view of the sparkle gets bigger and brighter until you're standing right it front of it.
It's sticking out of the dirt up near the roots of a large tree. You pull it out and take a look.
It's a sapphire necklace with a shining silver chain. The gem itself has an odd shape; like the silhouette of a... brain. It looks more like a smooth rock with a stem at the bottom, but still a little like a brain.
Sitting against the tree, you polish and scratch the dirt off it as you closely and wholeheartedly examine it. Around the edge of the jewel--facing outwards from the wearer--is an engraving that reads,
~Thought your thoughts are written within, think again~
~I write thy mind; trying denying nihilistic outside highly asinine~
Some sort of weird poem. Oh well! Best to put it on and consider if you want to sell it later. When you connect it over around your neck, however, you feel odd. The sapphire starts to glow! An aura of light comes out of the gem, and it floats in the middle of the air, and then flies, up your... nose.
You feel weirdly dizzy for a second. A magical sapphire of some sort! You hear a faint, whispery voice in your head, saying;
~For as long as you wear this sapphire, you now have the ability to control peoples' minds~
Do you?
Running back out of the trees, you see some random guy walking along the side of the road as you were.
"Hey!" You get his attention.
"Uh..." he turns around. "Yes?"
You think to yourself.
"Could you tell me the time?" You ask, catching up behind him.
"Auh..." he pulls out his phone, "four-forty-three."
"Thanks! Also, could you... tell me the color of your hair?"
"...uh, heheh, it's reddish brown." He says, looking around confused.
"Okay awesome!" You say, not sure what to do next. You try to think of a way to get him to say something he wouldn't ordinarily tell you, and you feel some sort of... feeling. You say,
~Tell me your first and last name~
While these words came out of your mouth, they felt weirdly different than normal talking.
"Henry Jordan." He says.
"Uh, why did you tell me your name just now?" You ask.
"...heheh, I don't know." He nervously says, holding his hand behind his arm, and starting to awkwardly turn around and resume jogging.
~Put your hand on your head, and leave it there for 90 seconds~ you exclaim to him before he can turn around. You watch as he does exactly that.
"Why do you have your hand on your head?" You ask loudly so he can hear you as he starts trying to get away from you.
"I'm sorry I can't talk right now!" He says, starting to quickly take off.
You watch as he continues to have his hand on his head for as far as you can see him. It's about time you end your walk as well; the sun will be going down in an hour or so. You were originally planning to just go home, but where will you go now? (Also, what's your age, gender and name?)
