After her mother's speech about her many attempts to become normal again, Amy suddenly changed her view on her Mom's transformation. She has been trapped with this secret for many years and everyday she has watched her beautiful legs become a fish tail. And the kind of stories she has kind of interested Amy as she wanted to be a mermaid as a child. Amy stepped closer to her mom and gently ran her hand across the blue scales that were hanging out of the tub, smooth yet quite slimy at the same time. Amy wiped her hands on her jeans. "Actually Mom, I think it's quite cool that you're a mermaid. Have you ever swam in the ocean?"
Jane's eyes widened after hearing that word. "THE OCEAN, oh no no no. I will never go back to the beach for as long as I live". Jane then proceeded to fall out of the tub so she could dry off. When she fell, she caused a loud thud that could be heard throughout the whole house. Amy then moved in with a towel and started to dry the tail. "Not so loud Mom, you're going to wake someone. Now, why won't you go to the beach?"
"You know I hate being like this, besides what if someone spots me, I'll be captured and be on worldwide news then I'll never see you again".
"We can find a secluded beach and I'll be there to look out for you. Mom, this is almost every child's dream, the chance to explore the ocean and see what no human has seen before"
Jane already knew her daughter was into mermaids as a kid. Jane used to watch mermaid movies with Amy and she was told Amy would pretend to be a mermaid when her husband Terry took her swimming. Amy seemed happy as if she recalled her childhood dream. "Honey, this isn't your childish fantasy where everything's going to be perfect at the end. This is a real tail and a real curse. If you had this curse, then maybe you'll understand" Jane stated. Clearly Jane was afraid to go out to these kind of places. Since the curse, she always avoided places with water like pools and the beach and she never took a step outside unless her legs were covered by wearing her skirts, pantyhose and knee high boots. Amy decided to not say anymore about it, at least for now.
Jane and Amy took a while to dry every part of Jane's body. As soon as the tail was finally dry, the tail gave off a momentary painful spasm which was a sign that she was going to transform back. For some reason it always took a minute to become a mermaid but 5 minutes reversing back which is what annoyed Jane. It was like before but in reverse, in the first minute the tail began to split down the middle and after the second minute the blue scales retracted back into the skin. During the 3rd minute, Jane looked over at her daughter who was clearly in shock as she watched the blue skin match Jane's normal skin tone. Then came the painful fourth minute when the bones and muscles in Jane's legs and feet were slowly growing back and the fins shrank like plastic over a fire. Afterwards, the fins began to look more like feet again. In the final 5th minute, Jane relaxed and put her dress on whilst feeling her legs again. She rose from the floor and rested against the wall whilst she was getting used to legs again.
Being careful to not step in any water, Jane and Amy were about to exit the room. "Now before we leave I must ask that you keep this a secret from everyone Amy" Jane pleaded with her eldest as if her life depended on it.
