Although you have to strain with all your might, the door finally swings open. You are not very steady on just your hind legs, and the motion of the door sets you off balance a bit. You teeter and take a few steps across the threshold, then tip to the side. Somehow, your spine is flexible enough that you manage to whip your body around enough to land on all four feet. However, you are not very happy about this feat, considering it means that you still have four paws. Standing on the stone entryway, you feel your panic rise.
In a futile effort to remain calm, you tell yourself that you are still too close to the house; maybe if you put some distance between yourself and the building the effect will wear off, and you will be human again. Then again, maybe this was all just some strange dream, and you'll wake up somewhere in the woods. Deciding to act upon the former while hoping for the latter, you walk away from the lit doorway and into the blackness outside.
You are so concerned with getting away from the house and returning to normal that you don't bother appreciating the fact that your new eyes can see amazingly well in the darkness. You can even make out individual leaves on trees and blades of grass, despite the dimness of the moonlight. However, none of this makes an impact on you until you catch some movement out of the corner of your eye and your ears begin to twitch at an unfamiliar sound.
You halt some fifty paces away from the house and stare at the bushes a little ways away from the path. This time you see the leaves move and pick up a faint rustling sound, but whatever is making the noise is hidden behind the foliage. You feel your fur stand on end as you involuntarily arch your back in fear, your tail stiffly erect. You don't know that the source of the movement is a threat, but considering what you've been through tonight, you don't want any more surprises.
