"Guess he's not here." said Audrey, while Mika stood mute, somehow too afraid of the tavernkeeper to do anything.
The tavernkeeper shrugged and turned away, as Audrey quickly took out a cylindrical bag filled with wet sand and hit him in the back of the head with it. He fell heavily.
"Moron." Audrey spat at the fallen man, as she knelt to go through his stuff. A glowing stone was in his hand. "Thought you were going to change me with this, you stupid son of a bitch?" She picked it up carefully with a cloth, avoiding direct contact. "Alright, which one of you clowns is Mika?"
"Uh, I am?" said Mika hesitantly.
"He changed you with this?"
"Uh, yeah?"
"Do you know how to use it?"
"No."
"I thought you were a freaking wizard!"
"I don't remember things now. He messed with my brain."
"Great, just great. Life just keeps getting better. Do you still have the power to do animal changes?"
"Yeah, that's what he wanted me for."

Audrey exhaled noisily. "Believe me, you're doing him a favor. Why do you think he gave you that?" She gestured with some distaste to Mika's crotch.
"Huh?"

"Now," said Audrey, turning to Mika. "Let's get you cleaned up." She tied up Robin in the stables and led Mika back to the tavern.
"Hey, Jess" Audrey hailed a pretty, buxom young barmaid. "Do me a solid and get this kid cleaned up. Also, I think you're now promoted to barkeep."
"Sure thing, lover." said Jess. "Wait a second, something happened to that creep Robin?"
"Robin is so completely out of the picture." Audrey smirked.
"Hmmm" responded Jess, as she was efficiently bathing Mika. "Did he try to use the rock on you?"
"Just as you predicted."
"And he turned the guy you were with into this kid?"
"Got it in one."
"Can you change him back?"
Audrey sighed. "I have the rock, but I don't know how to use it."
"I know how to use it."
"Really? So you can change him back?"
Jess grinned. "On one condition."
Audrey rolled her eyes. "Why do women always get me into so much trouble?"
"Take me with you."
"This is not a little jaunt. This is a serious expedition. Do you really know anything about adventuring?"
Jess laughed. "You've been adventuring for a while. Ever hear of Traskol the barbarian?"
"Are you kidding? Slew the Guardian of Gath, recovered the Sigil of Silmar, that guy? He was a legend in this business. Disappeared around here five years ago and oh my goddess are you about to tell me that you're him?"
"Let's just say that that rock has been used before for worker recruitment here."
"You're Traskol the barbarian?"
"Well, I was."
"So why not just use the rock to turn yourself back?"
"Forgotten last night already?"
Audrey blushed. "I know I'm good, but that can't be the only reason."
Jess laughed. "Look, I liked being a male barbarian, but that's a part of my life that's over now. I think the barmaid part of my life is over now too. I kept up my skills, although it takes a lot of adjustment once you lose the bulging thews. I'm ready to start again as a female adventurer. Traskol never really got credit for having skills or smarts, everyone thought he just battered his way through everything with his bulging biceps."
"OK," replied Audrey. "Let's test your skills. Quarterstaffs?"
