"I can make her think of me as 29," Katie said. "Or any other age, the ring allows that. I think for her to accept this the best, it would be good to have a friend her age, someone she can trust."
"So you're going to change her memories of you?" Grace asked.
Katie nodded, "Maybe, maybe not. I do think you staying seven is the best thing. She'd going to be coming home from a day at school with a bunch of kids, having someone who can relate to her, who believes her, but is her age, will help her transition I think. I'm the one in charge now, not her."
Grace nodded, "Alright, I am ready then, just make sure to change my clothes with me or something."
Katie nodded and concentrated, and in a moment, Grace stood dressed in overalls, a pink shirt and pink sneakers, her hair in a ponytail as her 7 year old self. "Hey Katie," She said. "I want Kelly to be able to trust me...and I want to be able to help her adjust best I can. Can you...make me actually 7, but remember I was once older too, just now how old."
"Sure, is that what you want?"
Grace nodded and Katie smiled. "I wish Grace was 7 years old in body but remembered being older and that I changed her, she trusts me. When Kelly meets her, she will have memories of being best friends, able to share anything, she wont remember me being 7, just me being younger then older, and now I am in charge."
Katie felt the ring warm as that same impish feeling crept through her. Little did she know the Ring was slowly gaining a certain sentience with each use...its essence creeping more into her body than in the ring anymore.
