Lydia sits in one of the kennels four corners. She sits with her legs drawn up against her chest while staring at the collie bitch that have been put into her cage. Diana, the bitch just sits there and watches Lydia with a careful curiosity. Lydia carefully listens for her friend’s voices while keeping a watchful eye at the Collie, remembering what her friends said. The sound of dog barks echoes in the corridor, but nothing else. Her friends are nowhere to be heard.
Distant footsteps are heard and they’re closing. As the footsteps move closer, more and more dogs start barking. Soon Lydia can hardly hear the footsteps any longer and suddenly she can’t hear them at all. “Very good job Captain and MaryAnne! I can’t see a single trace of humanity left on them. Now you both got mates! It’s a bit easier to motivate yourself it there’s a proper reward for you isn’t it? Now you’ve got a more pleasurable task ahead of you, but I still expect fine results from the two of you and your mates. I’ll just go and check how Diana is doing with her girl and then I’ll let the four of you out in the yard” Lydia recognises the kennel lady’s voice and so do Diana. She runs to the ironbars of the kennel and sticks out her muzzle between them. “Well there she is my special girl! Or maybe it’s my new girl Lydia?” Lydia’s eyes widen as she slowly begins to realise the unbelievable truth. Slowly she begins to realise what could have happen to her friends. She starts to wonder where Jim is… and realises that maybe he wasn’t late… maybe he was sitting in one of these kennels like herself is doing now. Maybe he is still sitting in a kennel? Lydia gasp as she wakes up from her thoughts only to realise that the kennel lady is standing in front of her kennel. She shakes her head slightly in disappointment. “Diana… Diana… haven’t you even started to work on her? I thought you would be finish by now? Her friends are already done” Lydia stands up on her shaky legs. “What have you done to my friends?”
The kennel lady looks up at Lydia, seemingly annoyed to be interrupted. “Bad girl! Be quiet when your mistress is talking” Lydia is chocked at the reaction of the kennel lady, as she is talking as if Lydia was a dog. “What should I do with you Diana?” The kennel lady continues the conversation with the collie “Maybe a good spaying will make you a bit more concentrated on your work?” Diana whimpers and lets out a soft bark, Lydia sees her tail being tucked between her legs “Or maybe a visit from Devil can motivate you to work a little faster?”
