After you and Tulipelle finish your lunch, your heartfriend takes you outside. "Where are we going?"
"Now's as good a time as any to get you some magical experience."
You smiled and fluttered your wings before the two of you fly off. "I gotta say, I've been waiting for this since I first cast those spells back at the cave. By the way, if they were so advanced, why did you call them 'basic'?" You ask.
"I'll be honest, it was a little white lie to boost your confidence. I figured you had some potential, Irisette." Tulipelle answered. "Sensing things like that is one of the traits of my Knack."
"Knack?"
"The kind of specialized magic or skill that comes naturally to a fairy; like Hydrangela, the Seamstress we met earlier."
"Oh, like the 'talents' in those Tinkerbell movies."
"Well, I guess you could say that. Me, I'm an Investigator. I can sense and gauge magic as well as discern its type and source."
You land at a clearing that had a large stone arena with more stones encircling it; much of which was well worn with chips cracks and breaks in the stone. "This is the Training Ground." Tulipelle said. "Here's where we practice and refine our defensive and attack spells. We'll start with the Magic Shot, it's the most innate defensive technique of a fairy." Tulipelle looked up and pointed to a leafy branch in the distance. "See those leaves? Fly up from here and try to hit one."
You fly straight up above the arena and on instinct, point your finger at a leaf. A small glowing sphere forms at your fingertip and launches as a streak of light, hitting the leaf and putting a gaping hole in it. "Okay, good; now try a bigger one aimed at that cluster right next to it." You held out your palm and formed a bigger ball of light and, with a thrust of your arm, launched it at the leaves, blowing them all apart.
"Wonderful, Irisette!" Tulipelle said.
"Are you sure I'm not hurting the trees or anything?" You asked.
"Nonsense, they don't mind. Besides, if any harm does come to them, it can always be patched up. Now, let's move on to the elements."
Your training continued throughout the afternoon and into the evening. You grasped the basics of lightning, ice, water and wind, though you were a little intimidated by fire, so little progress was made on that front.
"It's getting late, we better head back." Tulipelle suggested.
"Yeah, I'm starting to get hungry again." You said.
