"Put it down" came a voice with an unmistakeable note of command. "Enough foolishness for today."
All eyes turned to Tobi, who now seemed a princess for real. "But, but" said Luka. A glance from Tobi froze him. "Give me the rock." she said. And a stunned Luka handed her the rock.
"Now Mika" Tobi continued. "Is there something you haven't told us?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"I saw you panic when Jayrene came at you."
Audrey laughed. "They're figuring it out. You know how many times I've accompanied a male, just the two of us, on a journey lasting days and he hasn't hit on me? A grand total of you."
Tobi silenced Audrey with a frown. "Mika will tell us when he's ready. But I think Jayrene deserves an explanation."
"Alright!" said Mika. "I'm queer! I like boys! My master probably thought marrying me to a woman would straighten me out. He's a great wizard, but he's a complete idiot about some things. It's not personal to you Jayrene. I'm sorry I freaked out."
Luka, Jayrene, was wide-eyed. "Th, that's OK, then. I didn't, uh, realize. Look, I don't mind being male, I can be a guy for you. What kind of guys are you into?"
